Legion - Darkness album cover

Taking a few exceptions, the greater part of the bands and albums from the 80s that you never heard about is a matter of selection. The good ones passed the test of time, and those that aren't good enough were left aside. So, don't go buying albums just because they were released in the 70s, 80s or other time you want. There's a lot of bands that really were meant (and deserve) to be forgotten and buried by the sands of time. For me, bands as the North American quartet LEGION deserve to be left aside. Their compilation, called "Darkness", really reflects my words.

Once more, I have to deal with that old and moldy form of USA Metal. Ok, it really earned very good remarks in the past, with bands as OMEN, LIZZY BORDEN, RUTHLESS, MANILLA ROAD and others. But these guys are just another band with nothing special to show. Technically, they are good, but the songs aren't something better than those names I wrote above. In a frank way: it's just a pot of moldy ideas that could not face great bands on the past, and now, it doesn't deserve to be released!

The sound quality, as you all can think, is moldy. But it is good for those days, so we can deal with it with no problem. It's good, if you don't ask too much of it. Musically, it's just another boring album, as many of those I heard in the 80s, when I was a young Metal fan. It's boring because there were many bands doing better albums than anything on this compilation. They are just repeating that same formula: melodies+good technique+weight. This kind of vocal is really annoying, something far away from what the band needed.

21 songs are presented here, and none of them are really noteworthy. "Dream", "Eternal Life", "All Become One", "Darkness", "Wake the Dead", the energy shown by guitars on "The Spirit", "Where is the Laughter", "Within Your Eyes", "Judgement Day" and "Sunday Shoes" are songs that show that they could have evolved if they could kick this vocalist out of the band and work in a more personal way. Here, everything reminds of countless names of those days, and to be copying is a great mistake. Nothing can save such an album!

This is a great waste of time and efforts, and if wasn't this fashion of the so-called love for the 80s, such band would be buried deep by the past! Please, next time, a new release of those bands I named above could be way better than wasting time, efforts and money is something like this.
