I wonder sometimes when I'll finally stop repeating the same words: there aren't answers in the past that haven't already being given! I say that once more because every time I have to deal with bands with past musical genres and that have no identity it is truly disgusting. I have enough experience on my shoulders to affirm this truth: to go to the past, rescue a way of making music and not putting new life on it is pointless. No, nothing as "a cult band", "a new life from the past" or any kind of cheap propaganda can take me out of the ideal I have had for so long: if it isn't new, it must have personality; if it isn't new and has no identity, it's a musical work that is worthless.

To be honest, RAVENEYE is nothing more than a band using a great recollection of musical clichés, and "Nova" is a kind of boring and empty musical work. They are trying to be a Grunge band as ALICE IN CHAINS, SOUNDGARDEN, PEARL JAM and other names from the 90s, and let me say a thing: Grunge was only a way to make a sound of the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s with a pessimist view of life. Of course they are talented musicians, have some good and catchy melodies, and will make "Nova" extremely accessible to an audience made of people that even don't like Rock'n'Roll, but they have no identity!

Warren Riker (who worked previously with Lauryn Hill, Michael Jackson, DOWN, Anders Osborne, and others) produced "Nova". Of course his work is truly fine, because the sound quality of the music we hear is done in a clear and sober way, but with that moldy scent that their musical genre demands. But when the album starts to play, it's a boring experience. The songs are nothing new at all, and they are something that can make a bovine sleeps on the arms of Morpheus. Maybe they are trying to find the cure for insomnia. "Wanna Feel You" with its accessible vocals and melodies, the easy melodic lines from guitars on "Come With Me" and "Hero" (teenagers will love these ones for sure), the heavy insight used on some parts of "Supernova", the "Sabbathic" arrangements of "Oh My Love", and the mix between modern Rock with the Grunge filthy groove of "Hate" can be said as their best moments. But it's strange to say that "Nova" has some good moments, because it hasn't!

Talent does not make a good band only for its own sake. These guys must exit the shadows of their musical influences and try something different, because they are just a waste of time in the way they are in "Nova".
