Digital/Primordial
Osseltion
When we deal with Extreme Metal styles such as Death, Thrash and Black Metal, we have to take care with all of our conceptions. They can limit our vision and capacity to accept new and fresh things. This is a great problem that is corroding Metal from inside. The new things and sonorities are not here to destroy the old ones or to take their places, but to lead the style to the future. Stating this and freeing our minds from previous conceptions, we can speak about "Digital/Primordial", the second album from the Italian trio OSSELTION.
Their main Metal style is Death Metal. But they use different elements to build their songs, with non-conventional harmonic structures, a wise use of synthesizers, some elements from Groove Metal, Thrash Metal and other Metal styles that turn their musical work really amazing. It's different, filled with broken tempos, and it will defy our minds. The sound production is one of the things of "Digital/Primordial" that keeps the traditional aspect of Death Metal intact. The producer chose a raw and brutal sound quality, but with a very good sense of sound clarity and enough care in the instrumental aesthetics.
The broken tempos and excellent use of synths on "Digital Silence" and "Metalmorphosis" (great work on bass guitars and drums), the harmonic complexity of "Old Useless Reseted", the Thrashy tempos of "Humanity 2.0" (with very good guitar riffs), and the brutal and technical approach used on "Primordial" can be said as their finest moments. The only feature of their musical work that could be better worked is the vocals, because these extreme low tunes could be better done.
Very good work!
