Sector - Observation album cover

The modern musical tendencies in Metal are fruiting by now, as the younger bands are following the steps of the creators of these ways of playing Metal. In the case of Industrial Metal, the first bands are from the end of the eighties, names as MINISTRY, GODFLESH, PITCHSHIFTER, German maniacs of OOMPH earlier FEAR FACTORY works, and some indicatives influences given by NINE INCH NAILS. These are the roots of Industrial Metal styles, when it was thunderous and chaotic. But even being a bit more accessible than the previous names, the German quintet SECTOR is a true heir of their musical legacy, as the EP "Observation" is here to prove. The band's musical work is heavy, and in some moments, really chaotic, but always full of energy and created with some nasty melodies. Of course the influence of bands like RAMMSTEIN and OOMPH, some coming from Gothic Rock as well, so you can bet that their songs have some points of musical accessibility. But they are more Metal orientated music than Rock, so you have some heavy parts as well.

Confused? The music does its part better than words can describe, so give a chance to their hooking songs! The sound quality is in a good level. You'll understand what they are doing and what their work is about with no problems, but their musical conception demands some weight as well, and it is here, pulsing with life and energy. On "Wrong Way", we can see a good balance between the weight, aggressiveness and melodies, as well as that modern approach that will make some fans jump as hell on their shows. "Upon Request" was done in a way that some introspection meets with musical experimentalism, but without tearing out the aggressive outfit of their work, and some fine guitars and good keyboards arrangements can be heard here. The distorted aggressive vocals we hear on "In Summary (You Suck)" is really a good point of the song, in middle of the ferocious groove they put on it. And "Observation", we hear a more simple and thunderous approach, where bass and drums are doing fine, but with some nasty guitars as well. This EP is a very good work, indeed.
