End of Days
Discharge
Some words aren't enough to express how Metallians, Punk Rockers, and Hardcore fans must respect DISCHARGE's name.
Masters of English Punk Rock/Hardcore scenes, founders of D-Beat Hardcore style, and a great and strong musical influence for those who loves extreme Metal styles (ask some of your idols, as Max Cavalera, Jeff Becerra, James Hetfield, and many others about the band), DISCHARGE is not a merely band, but a total institution for those who knows their story, that is parallel with Metal and Punk histories.
But retirement seems not an option for the anarchist addicted band, because now, they are plundering again our ears and minds with a new album, the deadly punk of pure anarchic chaos called "End of Days".
What you'll find on this album is the purest breed of Hardcore/Punk Rock, that same style that gave a helping hand for every extreme Metal style to be born. It's nasty, aggressive, with not so intricate musical arrangements, but extremely hooking and still speaking about political issues and anarchism without being the good guys everyone dreams to be. They are still a threat for those who want to live on a world politically correct, and they are welcome. The same spirit from discs as "Why?" and "Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing" is here, so don't come saying shit about them.
The sound quality is a matter of vision. If you dream with a clean sound, I should warn you to stay away from "End of Days", because the true spirit of Hardcore is here. Of course you can understand what they are playing, as their music thundering roar flows from the speakers, but this quality that fits perfectly to their music is not what some would like to hear. Sorry, but this is a hardcore album in its true essence. Accept this fact that things will be easier, so Big Daddy here has no complaints about sound quality.
Better songs? Dear readers, are you kidding me?
Putting the band's efforts on short songs, it's truly impossible to point to one or two of them because this album is perfect. But for the lazy ones that needs references, I can recommend you to hear the nasty and fast "New World Order" (a furious and heavy song, with very good and hooking guitars, both on riffs and solos), the furious duo from "Raped and Pillaged" (with very good screamed hash vocals) and "End of Days" (if you stay stopped during this song, you're a dead man. What excellent guitars riffs and solos once more), the marching chaos shown on "The Broken Law" (with slower tempos and a very good work from bass and drums), the charming and hypnotic "Meet Your Maker" (a short and fast song, but with very good tempos and tons of energy), "It Can't Happen Here" with its heavy riffs (maybe a remnant of their Crossover era), the infectious "Infected" (this song can show you why Thrash Metal got tons of Hardcore influences and musical features), and the abrasive "Population Control". But beware, because their musical work is addictive to the core!
Buy this album, and don't be a cunt doing illegal downloads, because DISCHARGE deserves all honored mentions we could write. And "End of Days" deserves to be bought.
The nightmare continues, and it's one of the best albums of this year!<
