Well, to write reviews demands a lot from someone. Yes, it's not a joke of mine. Sometimes it is pretty easy, but some bands really try to defy our senses on creating different forms of making music. But from time to time (sorry for the abusive use of the word "time"), there are few ones that really are strange at first hearing. And the North-American quintet, AMBER SYLUM, really defies our convictions. And the band's new album, "Sin Eater", is really... weird.

Yes, it's pretty weird. Imagine a fusion between Ambient Music with Symphonic elements. But imagine it almost without guitars. Yes, it really reminds me of something in an experimental way into music, but not necessarily a Metal band. To be honest with you all, it doesn't seem to be a Rock band at all; besides some moments are a bit more aggressive and darker moments (as we can hear clearly on "Executioner"). We could compare their music to some orchestral and ethereal moments from PINK FLOYD, but these girls have personality and guts, let me tell you.

The sound quality is clear, and giving the band the best to reach a level where their music can be understood in their full and deeper meaning. Besides it does not have any dirtiness on it (because the band's music doesn't need it), it's really fine.

To some Metalheads, especially those who have deep roots on aggressive Metal styles, "Sin Eater" will be a boring experience. But we can't say that songs as the tender "Perfect Calm" (with gentle vocals and beautiful violin arrangements) and "TOT" (again very good vocals, but with aggressive and dark moments on its end), the lovely introspective moments of "Harvester", and the darker and really frightening atmosphere that "Executioner" presents.

And being clear: "Sin Eater" is really difficult to swallow, but it's a good album.<
