Swedish Metal scene is really something different and fertile.

The coming of seminal bands as BATHORY, OZ and others opened ways for future invasions of Metal bands from those frozen lands. Yes, after these ones, came the Swedish Death Metal scene, and many others. Besides the country is fertile in many Metal styles, it seems that Death Metal and Black Metal are the styles that reveal more names (and NO, I'm not ignoring bands as HAMMERFALL and others on melodic styles, please). So to hear a band as the duo TEMISTO is not something astonishing. But their music, presented on "Temisto", their first album, is really something.

They are a Death Metal band, heir of Swedish school. But the greatest difference between their work and from their compatriots is their filthy and classical Death Metal approach mixed with some influences from earlier Black Metal. It's like DISMEMBER or ENTOMBED on their earlier works gathered something from DARKTHRONE on their Black Metal era (not that disgusting Metal Punk trend, where the duo became a copy from MOTORHEAD). Is it original? Not at all, but it is really good.

Produced by Robert Anderson and Elias Scharmer, and mastered by Tore Stjerna, we can say that "Temisto" has the right sound quality for what they were searching for: filthy, nasty and raw. The instrumental tunes are really dusty and abrasive, as those earlier times on Swedish Black Metal and Black Metal scenes, but we can understand what they are playing with no complains.

The band is really aggressive, but their instrumental songs "The Ritual" (with an introspective sound, done by clean guitars), "Demiurge" (more aggressive and harsh, presenting very good distorted bass guitar and excellent riffs) and "Seance" (another introspective and depressive song with clean guitars). But if you want something that can blast your mind into Hell, give a listening on the raw and abrasive "Above Sacred Ground" (even below all this aggressiveness, we can fell a deep aesthetics feeling, with very good guitars and harsh shrieked screams), the intense and depressive tempos of "Abyssal Depths", the simple and brutal "Medusa" (fine vocals once more, along very charming raw guitar riffs), the bitterness and elegant "Bestial Visions" (how these guys know what to do in a simple and heavy style, presenting very good riffs and very good rhythmic session), and the fast attack of "Temple of the Damned" (a bit simple, but aggressive. But the musical arrangements are really good).

TEMISTO is a very good revelation, showing that a raw and bitter music can be done with quality.<
