Corners of Sanctuary - Metal Machine album cover

There are times that we really get stuffed due to the overdose of many Metal styles. Extreme Metal bands or melodic and technical ones can sometimes bothers us all, even the most fanatic Metalhead. In these times, we look for something more traditional, that energy of the roots of the style. So, when these times come to you, dear nephews and nieces, an excellent name for you is from the North American quartet CORNERS OF SANCTUARY, from Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) that comes thundering through our ears with "Metal Machine", their new album.

Here, you'll find the most genuine form of the American Metal, that old and always good formula of melodic, technical and heavy way of making Heavy Metal, this inheritance from bands as THE RODS, OMEN, RUTHLESS and many others. Of course the band has its personality pulsing on every single moment of the album, having excellent backing vocals, hooking choruses, sometimes playing fast, other ones on slower forms, but always in an excellent shape. And there's a modern aggressiveness permeating their songs, even on their more musically accessible moments, turning the experience of knowing this album really tasteful.

To hear this album is to face an excellent sound quality. It's heavy and thunderous as a Heavy Metal album must be, but is clear enough for us to understand what the band is playing, and to hear its melodies with no difficulties.

"Metal Machine" is a true experience that every Metalhead must have in life. Just give a hearing to songs as the heavy and abrasive "Metal Machine" with its slow tempos and great guitars; the hooking tempos provided by a good work from bass guitar and drums on "Like It Matters"; the energetic and ferocious guitars on the short song called "Left Scarred"; the hooking ones "Souls Without Shout" (where a certain dose of Hard'n'Heavy Metal is clear, pulsing with energy and keeping an accessible feeling on it, due the presence of very good backing vocals) and "Monster" (this one with that way that ACCEPT and JUDAS PRIEST had on the beginning of the 80s, with excellent vocals); and the Heavy Metal deathblow called "Wrecking Ball" (once more presenting great vocals, along with a solid rhythmic kitchen and excellent guitars), and you'll understand what I mean.

Solid as a rock, energetic as a giant powerhouse, "Metal Machine" is really excellent.<
