Sometimes a band's debut album is a bit of a slow burner, the tracks will grow on people as they get to know the feel and style the group is going for and as they gain familiarity. Here, from the very opening of "Know Your Enemy", track one on STONE BROKEN's debut album, "All in Time" they hit right on target.

The tracks are huge, with more than a nod to various modern arena filling groups (some of which cause... controversy within the rock community to name no names). The choruses are screaming to be sung along with, and there are some moments of great guitar wizardry which come out as microcosmic compositions within the whole song.

The songs reject the fairytale and mythological bent that many go for, instead keeping with the experiences of the band's 4 members; about wasting time waiting when things will go their way waiting for people, and just asking someone to stay all night.

There are plenty of changes of feel and differences which give the tracks their own feel, whilst definitely retaining a sound which is definitely STONE BROKEN. Different tracks take influence from classic and modern groups respectively, the intro to "Be There" having a distinctly southern rock feel, and the calmer melodies of "Wait for You" which bring out a beauty in this semi-ballad.

The ten songs here are as fine examples that rock is still healthy and growing in the UK as can be found anywhere. The mix of heaviness and melody really shows a lot of what is missing from a lot of the younger bands out there. The technical prowess of the lead guitarist is evident, with the solos in particular on "Better" and "Stay All Night" being standouts- this guy can really shred.
Definitely check out this band. There is only one way that they are going, and if "All in Time" is anything to go by they're going to go a long way.
