Finland, once again, is surprising the world. I'm here with the new full-length from the Finnish band called TULITERÄ called "Tulikaste", they're releasing this year to worldwide. Their sound is an instrumental Progressive Metal with Space elements. It's their first album since the band formed in 2006. They're release only EPs called "Alpha" in 2008, and "Clarity" in 2010.
When you listen, the artwork, you can imagine an interstellar trip, right? Right! It's a truly trip to space and relax you at the same time. The production is impeccable - clear like the water.
The line-up is fantastic. Excellent instrumental but it doesn't get boring, like what happens in a great number of albums.
The first song - "Percolator" - starts you trip to space and show you the power the band can do. With calm heavy passages and all the elements you can confer in Prog Metal, TULITERÄ ties you in this trip with songs like "Alpha Blade", the second track. The third track - "Jagat" - using and abusing from the synths, I thought it's the more accessible track and you can introduce anyone to confer the entire album and reminds me a lot of Arjen Anthony Lucassen did in STAR ONE and AYREON. The next, "Firedew", had a great melody and feeling during the intro solo. One of the catchiest tunes I heard and with one of the more surprising break tempo I've heard recently; one of the longer songs from "Tulikaste". Certainly, this song is one of the highlight from this album.
The next is "Cetus". With a calm atmosphere, it relaxes you and introduces you to the next track, "Voidborn". The calm atmosphere with a lot of synths keeps here. The next, "Star Rodeo" and breaks the entire calm climate and makes you headbang while the song plays. Once again, they're showing the talent and the adaptability to make several styles in one album and make it all harmonious. The same atmosphere in this song makes "All-Seeing Delirium", with more than 14 minutes, a completely trip to space. And to close, "Menticide". It's a song with means to you, your back to here and could be listening to the first song, "Percolator", making an infinite looping.
A great surprise for me, and I'm pretty sure will be a great surprise for you, listener. A Progressive of excellent taste with Post Rock elements with a super talented line-up. I'm pretty sure I'll listen "Tulikaste" for a long time.<
