Step in the Machine

Sometimes, when Big Daddy here sees the Greek Metal scene, the idea that we all have clearly is that Greece has a strong tradition in extreme Metal styles (Death Metal, Black Metal and Thrash Metal and their sub styles, I mean). But this not the truth, because there are Metal bands from the country with a more melodic style. Bands like the quintet ENDOMAIN, from Athens, that comes with their first album, "Step in the Machine".
With a mix between Power Metal and traditional Heavy Metal made in Germany, they have a style that seems a bit with old BLIND GUARDIAN's albums, those where they were more aggressive and not so rich in keyboards and musically elaborated as the Germans are doing by these times. But this doesn't means that the quintet has no value, because their music is melodic and intense, sometimes faster, other times a bit slower, but always with a little touch of bittersweet aggressiveness that makes the difference.
The album's sound quality is very, very good, indeed. It was done with a care that gives us their best shots on their songs. The songs sound powerful and melodic, intense and clear to the point we can understand their musical arrangements in each song, but always heavy and with the essential sound dirtiness that Metal bands must have in their albums.
The sensation that the album gives us is that it works like and unity due the good level of the songs, making all of them precious, but I dare to name the powerful "Step in the Machine" (with some very aggressive guitar riffs, along with fine vocalizations on a song that is not fast or slow, but is on a mean value between them), the aggressive "Into the Faint Sea" (again a song with a good amount of aggressiveness and a not so fast pace, but with a more complex rhythmic work done by bass guitar and drums), the perfect mix between great guitar work and a more aggressive insight on "Dreamer in Time", the hooking "Valley of Disorder" (with its charming vocals and excellent chorus), the accessible and more simple "Unsettled" (with a very good work on bass and drums once more, and another very good chorus), and the energetic "Defy the Master" as their best moments.
Very good band, indeed, with a very promising future, if they got their deserved chance.
