Gorepunch - Give 'Em Hell album cover

"You can't judge an album by its cover" must be stated as a law for Metal fans worldwide.  And from time to time, even your ole' "Big Daddy" here gets caught in a situation when a cover deceives my perception. Yes, because when I saw the cover for "Give 'Em Hell", first album from the quintet GOREPUNCH, that comes from Cleveland, Ohio.

Explaining the whole thing: when I saw the cover, I had the clear idea of another old fashioned Death Metal band, but this impression was destroyed at the first notes from the band. Their style seems to a more aggressive and dry form of Death Metal that can reminds from something that AT THE GATES and EDGE OF SANITY did on their best moments.

Imagine a mixture of harsh and screamed vocals, harsh and savage guitar riffs along with a technical and heavy rhythmic session. But words can't describe their musical work so easily, so you better take a hearing for yourselves. Cole Martinez, the band's guitarist, did the production of the album. And he found a good sound quality, the needed one to express their musical aggressive feelings with a clear insight. Brutality, aggressiveness and good taste are allied here. And the art created by Enrique Lopez Lorenzana is focusing on something that brings to our minds that same feeling of something we saw on old John Carpenter's films.

The album is very good from its beginning to its end. But when you hear some jewels as the aggressive "Darkness Rising" (fine extreme and dry guitar riffs guides the music, but these screamed voices are fitting perfectly), the fast and thunderous "Ignited" (that presents some violent melodies on guitar lines, but what bass guitar and drums are doing is something special), and the bitter and savage "Feculent Drift", so, be prepared for ears hemorrhages.

Very good first coming!<
