Idols of Apathy - Life Lessons album cover

Imagine when a style of Metal becomes more and more known. One of the most obvious things that occurs, is a massive outburst of bands in the style we are speaking about. In modern Metal ways, like Metalcore and other ones that are arising by now, the number of bands are astonishing. And besides the work of the sextet, IDOLS OF APATHY, is very good; their new EP, "Life Lessons", is just another good work in the middle of many.

No, the band has a lot of potential to be a spearhead into Metalcore scene, especially due the use of a trio of guitars, that makes their music more full of minimalistic musical arrangements. But the band really seems like many others on the style, even with a pulsing heart and soul on their music. You can feel it clearly, it's there, but it is not really being transmuted into a cohesive form of music. They are pretty technical, and has a very good dose of weight and melodies, but is lacking of some particularities into their work.

The sound quality is very good, near the perfection for their style. It's heavy, clean and abrasive in the due ways, creating an aggressive and harsh atmosphere, but with a great clearness for us to understand what they are playing.

Again: the band is not bad, and all the six members are talented musicians, but they need to create something different from the others, something that we hear and recognize that IDOLS OF APATHY is playing.

Of course some songs are really very good, as "Bipolar" (with fine and technical approach, using the guitar riffs in a bitter and distorted way in the middle of good tempos) and "Backstabbed" (another very technical song, with very good guttural vocals), but only for a common band as many others. And as I said above: we can feel that they can do far better than we hear on this EP.

These guys are very good, so please, do something outstanding in music as you are.
