Fat Glasses and the Leather Mustache
Grizzly Knows No Remorse
Dear nephews and nieces of mine, you can bet on that you Ol' Big Daddy here really knows many strange forms of music. And sometimes I find bands that really demands a great amount of patience to be understood. And the Russian quartet GRIZZLY KNOWS NO REMORSE really demands too much from us sometimes, but you can trust my words: once you get used (it's not as difficult as my words say, though). „Fat Glasses and the Leather Mustache" is an album that you'll love.
Their musical identity is based upon a hybrid from of playing Punk/Hardcore music with great amounts of Rock and Roll, with lots of good choruses, but with some more introspective moments (as you can hear on "Waiting To Be" that sounds like an American Country/Southern Rock song sometimes); and the best feature: it's really funny to hear!
On this album, the formula is simple - they mix good screamed vocals, strong guitar riffs, some melodic solos, and a rhythmic session that empowers their work
The sound quality is very simple and humble, but being clear and heavy in both ways. Not as perfect as some can think, but as their musical roots are deep in Punk Rock, it's not a problem at all.
Prepare for the thunder, for their music has great doses of energy that pumps adrenaline through your brains, but with good melodies. "What It Takes and How It Tastes" is a very strong and fast song, with some great riffs, as the short and catching "We Are the Party", "Waiting To Be", as Big Daddy here told before, are melodic and tender, showing that the band is extremely versatile in their work, especially the vocals, and "Refuse, Despise" is another thunder of aggression, boosted by very good rhythmic work done by bass guitar and drums. These are the best songs, but I hope you'll like the entire album.
A very good and respective lay.
