Come Back From The Dead - The Coffin Earth's Entrails album cover

Spanish Metal has a long tradition. Since the 80s, when BARON ROJO and OBUS were active, the scene on the country seemed a bit closed. But nowadays, with the internet constant presence in our lives, Spanish scene gave birth to many good names in recent times, as BEAST, ANGELUS APATRIDA, and INCURSED, and now, it's time for the Death Metal preachers from COME BACK FROM THE DEAD come to spread their brutal and aggressive gospel with "The Coffin's Earth Entails", their first album.

Here, there's a pulsing Death Metal heart, devoted to the most traditional vein into the style, remind us from something of the Swedish Old School Death Metal. But some aspects of their music really are different from some Old School bands, having some modern touches sometimes, and even some Hardcore touches (especially on vocals). But don't be confused: they're as brutal as nasty as you can think of. Sometimes, these elements seems to be related to the sound production, but it can be named as a consequence of some more modern sound influences, but this don't tear apart the oppressive brutality of their music. The vocals uses a more harsh and high tunes grunts, reminds in some moments the Matti Karki style. The guitars uses low tunes, so the riffs seems sometimes being a jigsaw with an evident musical influence from Hardcore, and the solos seems to be nasty, but following a melodic scale. Bass and drums are creating a simple, but heavy and abrasive, rhythmic basis for the band. So hold on in your seats, and prepare for the massacre.

The sound quality is nasty and raw as an Old School band must sound. But it is clear enough to understand what they are playing and what their music says. But if you're used to Death Metal from the 90s, you'll understand clearly why the sound quality is in this way. And let's be clear in one point: we have another fine work from Dan Swanö in the mastering of the album.

We have 10 very good songs on the album, but there are some of them that really are astonishing, as the brutal "Apocalyptic Great Panic" (very good vocals, and the song got very good fast tempos), the harsh "Krakenstein" (bass and drums are doing a good work, and we have some Hardcore insights on the riffs), the aggressive weight of "Psycho-Symphony Of Bites" and some modern touches, and the heavy and slow down tempos of "Vault Of Terror" (very good vocals and riffs, in a mid tempo attack, one of their finest moments).

Obviously, they can do better in this path they have chosen, but it is very good by now.
