Distinguisher - Helpless album cover

Hate or love them, the new Metal subgenres are here to stay. For some Metallians, they are the most pure expression martyrdom, for the still are locked in the past, crying and whispering for the 80s (yes, the greater group of complainers about new Metal styles are those guys who love a time that the never seen at all. Sorry to say: we are in 2015, twenty five years after the end of the 80s, so, accepting the things as they are will make you happier), but to new Metal fans, to accept, understand and love them it's very easy. And to these last ones, North American quartet DISTINGUISHER can be a fine band to hear. Their EP "Helpless" is something brutal, melodic and astonishing.

Of course you'll see at first that they are a Metalcore band, with some influences from New Metal and Djent Metal, using this mix the best they can. Or "Big Daddy" here dares to say, "the more aggressive they can play". Very aggressive and shrieked vocals you can think of, with abrasive and modern guitar riffs, and a technical and heavy show done by the rhythmic kitchen. Of course there are many bands doing this style nowadays, but the way they play is different from the greater part of the bands. Just take a hearing and you'll see want "Big Daddy" here means.

The sound quality is very good; clear enough to understand what these guys are playing in each musical instrument. But it granted weight and strength to their songs, sounding abrasive in these low guitars and bass tunes.

Their five songs have that ghetto feeling, in such musical violence that can astonish many people. And I dare to point the abrasive and powerful "Leech" (a slow paced song, with very good and technical approach from bass and drums), "Father Figure" (with such aggressiveness that make our teeth ache, having very good guitar riffs during all the song), and "Follow the Lines" (another great and fine exhibition from bass and drums in a very technical and brutal song) as the best ones, but I must tell you to hear and find your favorite ones for yourself.

This is the future, so be welcome, guys!<
