Sammath - Godless Arrogance album cover

Netherlands is always a farm for good bands from all Metal styles, from Symphonic Metal to the most raw and aggressive Death Metal you can think of. And now, it's time again for a veteran band arise again from the depths of the underground and spit forth hate on the face of everyone, for SAMMATH is back with their new album, "Godless Arrogance".

They started back on 1994, the golden age of Northern Black Metal on Europe, so it's not strange for us to hear a sharp and aggressive Black Metal in the vein of DARK FUNERAL, having extremely high pitch vocals, cold and intense (and very good) guitar riffs, a fast and furious rhythmic basis, and we can feel from their music that characteristic atmosphere from Black Metal from the 90's. It's like we could travel back in time, so their music is very good.

The sound production is so simple, making their music sound raw and dry as Black Metal was on the 90's, but the whole quality is not affected after all. We can hear and understand their musical work clearly.

Their songs are fine, full of changes of tempo and uses of darker atmospheres, with no song being expendable after all. But of course some highlights appear as we hear more and more the CD, but you can hear at first the following: the thundering "Shot in Mass" and its harsh riffs and atmosphere. The same musical elements are presented on "Fear Upon Them". The more darkened "Thrive in Arrogance" (great vocals and drums), the harsh and raw "Through Filth and the Remains of Man", and the terror made music called "Nineteen Corpses Hang in the Mist".

It's so good to see and hear veterans playing their music in such form.
