Harsh and blasphemous to the inner soul, bring chaos and gelid storms to our minds. This is what NOCTURNAL WITCH, from Germany, brings to us with their first Full Length, the cursed "Summoning Hell".

It's an Old School Thrash/Black Metal, nothing new at all, but efficient and good, reminding us sometimes of some aspects done by DARKTHRONE in their earlier Black Metal albums, and some icons as CELTIC FROST, HELLHAMMER and BATHORY. Harsh vocals from the depths of a cavern, very good guitar riffs (from where some melodies arise, giving a different taste to their work under such harshness), and good and simple rhythmic basis is what these maniacs are up to, and it's good, running away from modern speed and orchestrations (and Ol' Big Daddy here is not saying it's bad, please).

The production is pretty raw and dirty, but Patrick W. Engel, who made the recording, mixing and mastering, did a good work, keeping the album heavy, but listenable in a good shape.

Best moments: the excellent "Hellfire Cult" (nice guitar riffs and vocals), the thunderous "Among the Ruins of the Past" (here the drums do a fine work), the hooking "Realm of thee Dead", the wonderful "Resurrected Darkness" (storming and charming riffs, indeed), and "H.M.S.S.".

A good album, indeed.
