Cinderella - Stripped album cover

The story of Glam Metal band CINDERELLA is fairly well known in the annals of 80's Metal.  They were discovered in a Philadelphia nightclub by John Bon Jovi.  The band released three studio albums, and were taken on the road by quite a few well known bands, giving them a lot of exposure.  Shortly thereafter, they split, and Tom had vocal surgery.  After several more tours during the 2000's, and attempts to get the band back together and record, they have recently re-united.  This is a live album collection, consisting of sixteen tracks.

All of the classics are here.  Starting off is the bluesy slide guitar of "More Things Change," the Southern tinged rocker "Push, Push," and that familiar riff of "Gypsy Road."  The band sounds tight and energetic, and there is no mistaking the gravely voice of Tom Keifer.  "The Last Mile" is a nice, sweet acoustic and emotional number from "The Long Cold Winter," and "Shelter Me" is an upbeat, Gospel-inspired track that shows some versatility of the band's influence and repertoire.  I always like the simple but pleasing E and C chord riff of "Coming Home," and still feel to this day that it is their best song.  It really picks up quickly and ends in a barrage of melody and emotion.  "Nightsongs" and "Nobody's Fool" really take me back in time to the days of MTV, when Glam ruled the airwaves, and bands wanted to really give you a visual show.  They sound as good today as they did in their heyday.  Picking up energy to the show is the fast paced AC/DC type riff in "Somebody Save Me," and the fan favorite vocal heavy "Shake Me."  Of course, no show would be complete without their signature piano-laden power ballad, "Don't Know What You Got."  It's a powerful song with a simple but deep message, where Tom pours everything into his performance.  "Make Your Own Way" is a positive, energetic closer.

We have an excellent collection of the songs that best represent this band, and their career volume of work.  They have an important place in the history of Glam Metal, and have written many memorable songs that have lasted throughout time.  Their niche seems to have been a more aggressive, bluesy approach to songwriting, the catchiness of their sound, and the clear multi-talents of Tom Keifer, who was a songwriter, singer, guitarist and keyboardist.  The soundness of their live show is also on display here, and although we can't see them performing here, we know they are spinning their guitars and bass around their body with their straps quite often.
