Zombie Lake - Plague Of The Undead album cover

The old school bands are really infesting Metal scene nowadays, and as I say always: some can really do something good, and others don't really deserves mention. And ZOMBIE LAKE is something in the middle, for "Plague Of The Undead" is really good, without having nothing new to present.

Good vocals (besides it's an copy of SODOM's Tom Angelripper in his first two albums), great guitar work (both in riffs and solos, being the great "guilty" for pushing the band's work to something good), very good bass and drums basis (again: we heard some of these tempos somewhere before). Their international efforts (for the band is formed by members from Sweden and USA) really cares of more personality, but the guitar work is wonderful.

A "smoky" sound production, trying to bring back what is in the past (please, let the old way of sounding rest in the past! You can get really good results using modern techniques in the studios), and it's unnecessary to say how it damages their work. And their greatest sin: sound quality has some oscillations, for "Deceased and Obssessed", "Brain Frenzy" and "Strontium Dog" are songs with sound like some old tape Demo. And the cover is very good, indeed.

There are great moments thanks to the guitars, as I said before, as we can hear in "Blood! Blood! Blood!", "Emperor of the Walking Dead" (a slower song, where the melodies arising from the riffs save the song), and "The Cemetery" (here the vocals are really something of good). To bring the dead out from their tombs (I'm telling about trying to bring the past back) it's nothing good: they only reek, nothing more.

To be honest with you all, they have potential; can do something in the way they choose, but needs improvement and personality.
