Since some years ago, Depressive Black Metal has appeared and clutched many fans into Metal scene, with some good names appearing here and there, and now, it's time for EUDAIMONY (a band based on Germany, but with musicians from a lot of countries) comes with their first album, "Futile".

It's a very good band, indeed, doing a slow and very depressive music, centering their music in a slower and heavy music, with harsh vocals (with some clean ones here and there), distorted guitars (with some good riffs and cleans moments), heavy and massive rhythmic basis, and keyboards giving a more climatic and darkened atmosphere to the songs. It's good, of course, but the band needs some improvements inside its style.

Good sound production, making the listening easy for us all, for all instruments are in their places, sounding heavy as they must be. It really could be a bit better, but it's not bad at all. The cover is a good illustration, representing in a good form the band's work.

Musically, "Futile" doesn't do something newer in the style, it's good, but we can feel that they can do something better. The best songs: "Ways to Indifference" (the heavy and oppressive atmosphere really are astonish, with some good vocals and riffs), the more introspective ones "Mute" and "A Window in the Attic", and "Portraits" (a clean song, with great vocals arrangements).

They can do better, but are in the right way, so, let's hope to hear more of them in a near future.
