DOGFACE is band from Goteborg, Sweden, signifying Hard Rock / AOR mixed with Traditional Metal. Back in 2000 a debut album "Unleashed", second album called "In Control" in 2002 and coming in fast there is the third "Back on the Streets". Mats Levén has been well known to fans of melodic Hard Rock, Martin Kronlund (Guitarist, Songwriter & Demon Producer) the founding members of DOGFACE together with Mikael Carlsson (LOVER UNDER COVER) on bass and Perra Johansson (COLDSPELL / LOVER UNDER COVER) on drums created a fantastic line-up.
"Footsteps On The Moon" is an astounding opener, barging in with chunky riffs entangled with melodic reins, swarmed by a DIO meets BLACK SABBATH direction, yet I found similarities to JUDAS PRIEST as well. "Can't Face Tomorrow" is catchy energetic heart stopper, abiding by the law of THE POODLES, the Hammond and guitars sounded so bright and clear. The title track "Back On The Streets" is so robust, assembling a rhythm section in the vein of the 80's along with catchy guitar riffing and an explosive chorus. Within "Higher" there is fine DEEP PURPLE feel along with Levén's Dio like performance. For one thing I enjoyed the synergy of the Hammond with the guitars.
Also worth to listen: the ballad "The Fall" following the melodic lines of URIAH HEEP, the melodic groovy "Fired", picturing insanity with "Freaking Out" clasping psychedelic echoes of PINK FLOYD with the band's Rock antics and "Crazy Horses" going harmonic Hard Rock / Blues comparable to WHITESNAKE.
I'm sure that this DOGFACE album with entice the ears of every Hard N' Heavy fan, with shadows of modernity, this group of experienced musicians were able to achieve an 80's spirit that was so appealing and right on the spot.
