Wille And The Bandits - Grow album cover

The funny thing about reviewing bands with no label is that most of them are new, small time bands that are looking for the break. However after surfing the galactic endless World Wide Web using Google I found many information about WILLE AND THE BANDITS and it seems that they are also referred has one of Britain's best kept secrets. WILLE AND THE BANDITS are a three-piece from Plymouth in the West Country, the best thing about these guys that they seem to be known because they already have toured Britain with massive names and legends such as JOE BONAMASA, DEEP PURPLE and STATUS QUO. They have gained an underground fan base due to their explosive live set and have gained exposure by playing at events such as Glastonbury, the "Isle Of Wight" Festival and the Olympic Games; amazing stuff from a band that is unsigned.

My issue, and it's only my issue, is that I'm a Metal fan while also a Hard Rock follower, WILLE AND THE BANDITS have been exploring the roots of Rock, bands like DEEP PURPLE for instance. Nonetheless, on the album you can even hear songs that are Reggae influenced. Don't get me wrong they do play Blues Rock like the classic bands. If in the start of the 70's the issue was that they would have fallen in the middle way, nor Metal nor Hard Rock and nor Blues Rock. Even so, the funny thing is that it's a great thing, the mix of all style created a classic Rock influenced album. I found it very surprising that it will appeal to many people that like Hard Rock or Blues Rock. For guys that are diehard Metal I say, go with the flow, it's a good thing to have an album like that or if you are sick from head banging.

Songs that I found great are "Sound Of A Gun" hanging on to a classic DEEP PURPLE done great, "Gypsy Woman" again a song that if I didn't know that it originated in 2013, I would have been thinking that it is a Rory Gallagher song that I have never heard, also don't miss "Still Go Marching" that is such a classic 70's ballad.
