Path To Omors
Scibex
Wow, this band is Amazing. Hailing from Uberlândia, Minas Gerais (a historical city, when we're speaking about Metal, for great names as SCOURGE, KROW, UGANGA), SCIBEX is doing a refined musical work, which we can label Avant-Garde Black Metal (by the grace of the Witch, someday we'll throw all this labeling in the trash. Aren't they all Metal?), in the vein of BORKNAGAR, VED BUENS ENDE, ARCTURUS and some touches of "Old" DISSECTION, but with their personal touch, and we can say that sounds new, fresh and full of life. And very, very heavy.
Their music focuses in being more chaotic, with many broken tempos, changings and all, vocals harsh and clean getting along, complex guitar riffs, bass and drums in the same way, being this way something new, as well as it can break necks.
The sound production is fine, done by Rodrigo Nepomuceno (with mastering done by Brendan Duffey), and he made a clean work, making every instrument sound clear in its own way, but without losing the sense of unity. The artwork is beautiful and enigmatic, an excellent work done by one Brazilian master, Edgar Franco (goo.gl/QEvOX), with a meaning that only the band can explain (start research for yourselves, my padawans!).
When we start to hear the CD, we can feel that "Path to Omors" is a precious jewel that we found, with all tracks being in excellent level, but we can take some time to get used to it, for it's very complex, yet charming, and the best tracks are "Cryptic Comfort Zone", with its complex guitar riffs and oppressing drums, "Built to Collapse" (with a fine bass guitar intro, and with vocals changing from harsh to clean with no problems at all), and the all destroyer of musical dogmas and laws "Path to Omors" (too complex, with a charming piano intro, fine guitar solos and highlight vocals). This CD is a skull breaker hit in the face of some here in Brazil Who speaks against our scene, and a reward for all those who believe in our potential, as well it's a fine gift for our Metalhead brothers from all countries, for our common flag is Metal.
But don't get mad or sad for you can't buy the physical copy. The band gifted us all with a free download kit, so you all can get in this link:
