Burning Rain - Self-Titled (Reissue) album cover

"Burning Rain" is the self-titled debut album of the American Hard Rock group. Back when this album was released in 1999, guitarist Doug Aldrich wrote a record that put his influences on top. WHITESNAKE has been one of them and probably the most notable to date. 3 years later Aldrich became a member of WHITESNAKE and over the years has been co-producing with David Coverdale, so he has been doing something good right?

This album is a straight up Hard Rock following the veins of WHITESNAKE, LED ZEPPELIN, FREE , AC/DC, very British but with an American sound and production (and of musicians). Right from the first tune "Smooth Locomotion" you will notice the sleazy type sound and the feel of the tunes while Keith St. Jon's amazing vocals' depicts a mix of Coverdale and Paul Rodgers, fitting the music with excellence and makes the music very enjoyable to listen. The tracklist displays a blend of Hard Rock directions with R&B affiliations (Meaning the true kind of Rhythm & Blues not that shit that is on MTV). "Making My Heart Beat" is a great example, very FREE and BAD COMPANY but with that 70s WHITESNAKE vibe.

In conclusion, amazing Rock N' Roll, remastered to showcase an incredible. BURNING RAIN is an impressive time machine journey back to the 70s and 80s but with a modern engineering. The only thing that I didn't like is that a few songs are a little too identical to the band's influences. But on the other hand that isn't everyone is influenced by something, you can't invent the wheel once again but BURNING RAIN definitely made it fresh and tasteful. If you missed it back in 1999, it's a must now.
