Debut album for PUSHMEN even though these guys here are definitely not newbies. The list of bands that the members of PUSHMEN have been in is an impressive one, including acts such as Thrash / Noise act EMPLOYER EMPLOYEE, difficult-to-describe MADE OUT OF BABIES, as well as BAD POWERS, RATKING and HEARTLESS BASTARDS among more. The idea here is straightforward and what PUSHMEN manage to accomplish is to put together their metallic sound alongside their love for hardcore punk. And what they are bringing forth is an album sitting exactly in-between the two genres; "The Sun Will Rise Soon On The False And The Fair" includes in its nine songs the best of both worlds.

The metallic Hardcore side of the band, having an aura of MASTODON-ian riffology is quite apparent in tracks such as "Vortex Philosophy Blues", an impressive song that includes great melodies, combined perfectly with a hardcore vibe, which also includes a rather emotional part about three minutes in the track. Now, if you are worried about the mention of MASTODON here, rest assured that PUSHMEN are not just trying to copy the legendary band. Their structures and style is actually much closer to the heavier, more modern metallic Hardcore bands, such as BURNT BY THE SUN.

Whether they are using speed and aggression to grab you attention, as is for example the case with the opening song of the album, "Child From Chaos", or in a more mid tempo style with heavy groove as with the great "Amass" with its menacing start, they always transfer the same energetic feeling to the listener. Of course you cannot have a modern Metal / Hardcore record without the inclusion of some paranoid tempo changes. And yet again PUSHMEN come through with their mental attitude in the imposing "Blaze Some More Hatred", the attack of the track carries on to the next song, in a devastatingly more intense manner. The shorter in length "The Year of Hands & Neck" destroys everything in the bands path and then gives way to the Doom / Sludge (that's right!) opus of the album (no matter its shorter length), "Born Again Too Late" (I sense a SAINT VITUS reference there, right?), which reveals a different but equally impressive side of the band.

The vibe changes to a much more hardcore groove with the great "...Silenus Beside Me", the band returning to their earlier concept and closing the album with vibrant "Crime Again" and the filled with paranoia "Western Medicine", closing the album as remarkably as it began.

"The Sun Will Rise Soon On The False And The Fair" reveals that PUSHMEN are a band on the rise. And it will be unforgivable to ignore them and not see where they can take it from here.
