Zephaniah

Finally, a new release to get excited about! After several boring, lack luster reviews, ALBUM comes to the rescue. I have to admit I wasn't expecting much, I mean come on, with a name like ALBUM.
ALBUM hail from Rogers, Ohio and have released their Mini-LP Zephaniah via High Roller Records. "Zephaniah" is a mini-concept album that goes along with the book of Zephaniah." High Rollers website shows this as a Limited Edition release in Black or White vinyl.
ALBUM plays a unique style of metal that is hard to put a label on, I definitely here some 70's influence, early classic thrash, BLACK SABBATH, NWOBHM, DANZIG, (vocals) maybe even a little VOLBEAT.
The MLP starts off with "Prologue", a spoken word manifesto.
"Shout of the Warrior" kicks off some serious badass music, heavy, funky, crunchy, fast and with vocals to match. It's the perfect song to start things off, and sets the feel for the rest of the album.
"Ballad of Zephaniah" is a 7 minute song that has a bunch of different sounds, including some very country sounding riffs and vocals, which then flow into some 70's sounding thrash. Very cool! The final song "When Nations Collide" rounds out the album nicely.
The standout song for me is "Shout of the Warrior", like I said earlier in the review - "heavy, funky, crunchy, fast and with vocals to match." Giddy up!
This is a kick ass release, with a lot to get excited about. It's refreshing to have bands step outside the box and mix it up. This is a band to watch and I'm personally looking forward to future releases.
Anyone that is a fan of Metal should give this a good hard listen.
