Strike - Back In Flames album cover

STRIKE is a band from Italy. "Back In Flames" is re-released compilation that includes the band's originally released self-titled debut album from 1981 with 4 bonus tracks from an earlier demo. Every track is remastered. "Strike" seems to be the first Italian Heavy Metal band ever, before VANADIUM and VANEXA.

"Short Cut To Hell", the blistering opener, is very nice listener. The guitars & drums traditionally 80s, in the vein of early 80s BLACK SABBATH albums or "Blackout" by SCORPIONS, also there is that vintage Hard Rock vibe with a fantastic guitar solo, a show of a fine spirit. But my favourite on this album is definitely "Let Me Go", following the true spirit of 80s Metal and Rockish features. The song breathes of BON JOVI and TOTO, with great lyrics, a true magnificence; I can't get enough from the powerful sound of this one. On the demo of "Flames" there is a handful of catchiness with an inspiring riffing following IRON MAIDEN. "C'mon Let's Rock" has Glamish elements on display while a sensation of Bluesy Rockin portrays on "We've Got The Music". There is a great melodic sense on "Running The Race" or "Go Your Way" where there are notable influences of vintage Metal and Hard Rock scooped by DEEP PURPLE. Daryl Ingrosso sounds like Ozzy on "Head Out" where there are also great melodic guitars, impressive guitar solo and pretty well done rhythm section. "I Want To Rock" will take on fans of THIN LIZZY, URIAH HEEP or FOREIGNER, due to the fine vintage aura of these bands of amazing Hard Rock of the 80s. "Hot Wheels" is really similar to "Wheels Of Steel" by SAXON while the guitars and drums pinch of AC/DC, a fine example of Heavy Metal meets heart-warming Hard Rock.

"Back In Flames" is a recommendable compilation with an histroical importance. The band presents to the listeners many different sounds and directions, from Heavy Metal, through Blues to 80s Hard Rock. There are plenty of great rhythms, catchy peak moments, tons of energy and a tight rhythm section. As expected it is an old style production, probably analogue, but sounds incredible and so natural. STRIKE, now gone, tried to share their positive energy with everyone who listens to their music.
