Sabouk Rouge

Lomor

I can’t escape the feelings that this album brings to me. I feel elated, happy, tapping my foot, nodding my head and happily anticipating what is about to come next.

I'm not a topographic wizard or know-all, but I pride myself at mostly being able to point out where something is. Until I saw where LOMOR is from; Reunion. I really had to look it up. Seems it is an island that is part of France, but that is situated between Madagascar and Mauritius, east of Southern Africa. The predominant language is Réunion Creole, though French remains the sole official language of the island. Well, back to LOMOR, the band that has been making their brand of good old fashioned, organic and very energetic Thrash Metal. You will hear them both the languages mentioned, but also English. And you can hear the difference in how the vocal lines are delivered. In the two original languages the atmosphere riding high, the emotions are almost palpable. When Babouk sings in English, he is more focussed on delivering his lines in the right way than on the any other aspect of the lyrics.

As this is my first array into the musical world of LOMOR I can say that I have missed the 2022 debut album "Perseverance Of Sickness". After having listened to their latest creation "Sabouk Rouge" there is no way that I can wait to rectify that feat. Because I can't escape the feelings that this album brings to me. I feel elated, happy, tapping my foot, nodding my head and happily anticipating what is about to come next. And as with the languages, there are differences in the music. The band is very good when they aren't playing too fast, or when they let the instruments do the talking. They simply rock the place. But when they decide to speed up, go for the throat, that is when LOMOR becomes nothing less than impressive. That is why after having listened to the first two songs I feel that I am in Thrash Metal heaven, as they fit that very speedy category.

Are their comparisons with other Thrash Metal bands that walk the earth or have done so in the past. Yes, of course there are, but I am not just hesitant to mention them, I'm simply not going to give any names or references, as I feel that if you go into "Sabouk Rouge" with a blank mind, you will allow your whole body, mind and soul to surrender to the extreme good music that LOMOR is giving you on this superb album. This one qualifies for my year list of 2026.
