Shadow Killer are a Progressive Metal band from Diamond Springs,California formed in 2010.Their debut album "Slaves Of Egypt" was released in 2013,followed by the 2nd album "Until The War Is Won" in 2015.Following the tragic death of Shadow Killer band members Robert Edwards & Dan Lynch in 2025,the future of Shadow Killer is uncertain.Despite the tragic loss the band were determined to release "Sworn To Avenge" which is the third and final part in a trilogy of albums which began with "Guardians Of The Temple" in 2018 and "Dark Awakening" in 2020.Shadow Killer draw their influences from classic American and NWOBHM bands such as Iron Maiden and Savatage,but also Prog bands Rush and Kings X.

"The Haunting" starts with a calmer acoustic appeal,the heavy slow tempo,melody & riffing kick in with a strong vocal which kicks off this final chapter in this concept trilogy."Souviens Toi" has a heavy deep rhythm presence with the energy & momentum picking up the pace,there is some strong guitar work as the track progresses."Rise Of The Hunter" has rich strong vocals,a heavy melodic track with some prog elements in parts."Into The Night" has variations of pace,heavy hitting drums.crunchy and heavy chugging riffage.The strong rhythm presence on this album I enjoyed "Shadows Of The Sun" is the perfect example of a tight rhythm section which takes centre stage,"Heart Of The Warrior" is one of the best tracks on the album,it has heavy melodic intensity & energy."Sands In The Hour Glass" pounds out of my speaker with the same vigour as previous tracks,mid track there is a lighter passage which breaks up the heaviness,before the pendulum swings to bring the track home with more rhythm and guitar runs.This trilogy comes to a dramatic ,epic instrumental conclusion with "Bellum Sacrum" which is a full on heavy arsenal of drums,bass & guitars.

"Sworn To Avenge" is an album which is well played,well produced.This is the first time I have listened to Shadow Killer, I must say I now need to visit the two albums in the trilogy! The rhythm section on this album impressed me the most,so strong, well delivered and executed.A generic, no nonsense American Metal /NWOBHM listen with some Prog touches thrown in for good measure.
