DAZR self-released their eponymous debut EP one year ago (March 1, 2025) of which I had the pleasure of handling the review for METAL TEMPLE and giving it a 10 out of 10 rating, so when I heard they have a new album scheduled for release later this year but are tempting us with the single "Another Lie", I jumped at the chance to review it. But first a brief history of the band and what brought them to this point. DAZR is a classic Hard Rock band out of Greenville, South Carolina bringing raw power of rock and roll back to its roots in a time where polished production often drowns out the heart and grit of music, they fill the void by getting back to the basics, no auto tune, no backing tracks just music that's alive, gritty and full of raw energy. It's loud, it's passionate. 

"Another Lie" is exactly what I anticipated, huge power chords, spandex screams layered with a down and dirty attitude, a true throwback to the classic 80's and NWOBHM, not that I'm complaining because it's done exceptionally well with the right balance of riffs and chops and the vocals of Austin Hendrix who attacks the mic with razor edge intensity that will have you thinking Sebastian Bach, Myles Kennedy or Chris Cornell, (that's pretty damn good company)

he doesn't just sing, he detonates every note allst while Grant Hendrix shatters the speakers with another straight forward, crotch rock, sledgehammer guitar seminar, but never overshadows the impressive and steady rhythm section that keeps the pot boiling, making this band impossible to ignore. In a world where it is commonplace to play it safe, DAZR throws the rule book out and plays it straight from the heart, no tricks, no frills, no BS. This is heavy metal on steroids with paralyzing intensity. (Sorry Grant, I'll be sending you the bill for my speakers) 

The new album has no release date yet, but I anticipate possibly one more single to tease us just a little more and of course buy them more drinks, and I'll be first in line to review it and spread the word about this amazing band. DAZR is coming off a successful and acclaimed performance supporting the Legendary LYNCH MOB on the Mr. Scary tour last February. To hear more about the single, the album and what lies ahead for DAZR, check out our Podcast interview at CREATIVITY TALKIN on YouTube.
