Joker In The Pack
Hell In The Club

After signing to Frontiers Records in 2017, Hell in the Club released "Hell Of Fame" (2020), the "Kamikaze" EP (2020, celebrating their 10th anniversary), and their sixth album "F.U.B.A.R." (2022), a straight-up hard rock record hailed as one of their strongest to date.Following the departure of founding vocalist Dave Moras, the band faced a turning point. Instead of replacing him with a similar voice, bassist Andy proposed a bold shift: introducing a female singer. Enter Terese "Tezzi" Persson (Infinite & Divine, Venus 5), a powerhouse vocalist from Sweden. After a single rehearsal, the choice was clear. In April 2024, Tezzi officially joined the band, debuting with the single "Carolina Reaper". Momentum quickly built toward the creation of their seventh album: "Joker In The Pack".
"Joker In The Pack" starts with a bang the hard hitting riffs & bass introduce "The Devil Won't Forget" ,vocally it hits with conviction a great vocal with a slightly more melodic chorus which gives the track that sweet spot."New Desire" and "Dirty Love" follow the impressive opening track, they are just generic Hard Rock tracks which are sung well, played well but they are just good tracks nothing special, which I feel don't have the same impact as how the album started."Robert The Doll" is a track which really took me a few listens to take in,is it different? Yes it is, but I really liked the track musically, Tezzi vocally brings it,it flows with a punchy melody, definitely a standout track for me."Fairy Tale" starts with some deep bass taps, some heavy riffing, which is wrapped around a majestic Melodic Rock chorus which creates another standout moment on this album.next comes the ballad of the album "The Ocean" with some acoustic guitar input in places,a great vocal with great control, emotion, with a powerful guitar solo to bring the song home."Magnetars" is a mid tempo rocker which has great rhythm & groove, with another great vocal,"Pretty Little Freak Show" leads in with a pop folk feel, before kicking into another rocker, which has some Classic Rock vibes. The penultimate track is a bit of a weird mix for me,almost feels like a mash up of two different tracks,it has some great chunky, beefy riffs & deep bass, but the chorus for me doesn't fit with the momentum of the track, a bit of a mismatch for me.The album ends with another heavy hitting track "When The Veil Of Night Falls",its good but again its not one of the albums best tracks,so consequently the album ends with less of a memorable impact as it opened
"Joker In The Pack" is a good solid album with some great tracks, but unfortunately there is a couple of good/ok/average filler tracks which do not match the high quality of the albums standout tracks. The album is great musically, with great vocals from new singer Jezzi and moving forward Hell In A Club will continue to grow with the line up change.A solid effort with some great tracks.
