Shady Side Of Town EP
Electric Boys

The Electric Boys from Stockholm Sweden were formed in 1988,a band who's roots are 70's Groove Rock & also 60's Pop and Psychedelia. Their critically debut album "Funk -O- Metal Carpet Ride" was produced by Bob Rock (Metallica,Bon Jovi,Motley Crue) which featured the top 20 Billboard single "All Lips N' Hips". Extensive touring followed with two further albums, "Groovus Maximus" and third album "Free Wheelin'" before calling it a day in 1994.Conny Bloom went solo before joining Hanoi Rocks with Andy Christell in 2005.In 2009 Electric Boys began the process of reuniting, releasing "And Them Boys Done Swang" in 2011 with "Starflight United" in 2014,returning again to the studio to release "The Ghost Ward Diaries" in 2018 which topped the charts in Sweden & Denmark,3 years repeating that success with another album "Upside Down". Their latest studio album release "Grand Explosivos" was released in 2023.This EP "Shady Side Of Town" a digital only release features tracks left over from recording of their last album.
The opening track "Head Honcho" has a lot of groove,it has swagger, some cool infectious riffing which backs up some vocals which have aged like a fine bourbon, the chorus is massive which delivers a killer punch. The title track "Grand Explosivos" from the latest studio album, which for whatever reason didn't make the cut? is another great track with some crunchy riffs,a tequila soaked Mexican feel, with a upbeat tempo & harmonic chorus. The heavy bass groove, with a funky melody, has that 70's swagger complete with a bluesy feel is what i get from "Looking For Vajajay" the chorus doesn't have that catchy, addictive touch like the previous two tracks, but It feels like a track where four musicians are having a jam at a party or in a studio, more than a finished article, still a cool track nevertheless having enough flare to keep me interested. The final track "Keep It Dark" is a great track with a definite a Classic Rock musical direction,it has an addictive flair, killer guitar solo, which in turn sounds so cool, which hopefully is a glimpse in the future to their next studio album.
The four tracks on this EP are of high quality, which like The Electric Boys stated they deserved to be heard & released.Ok it's only four tracks which are over before you know it,but man they are good !With some glimpses of their earlier sound, but also a great appetiser & also a stop gap for their next studio recording.Great stuff excellent funky, hard rock which packs a punch.Available digitally everywhere now,go listen for yourselves really good.
