Land Of The Damned
RVH Project

RVH PROJECT started life in the Netherlands back in 2021. The music that the band plays is an amalgamation of Melodic Rock, AOR, Pop Rock and even a bit of Funk. The first try at achieving world domination came in 2022 in the form of their debut album "Enter The Machine". It wasn't a bad first attempt at getting the music out to the people, but it wasn't one for the record books either. The songs were okay, but needed some work. Now, just about three and a half year later, they are bringing us their second attempt to wow the Rock audience has arrived. "Land Of The Damned" actually is released on the day that this review is published, 30 October 2025. And to say that this is a huge improvement in comparison with the debut album is quite the understatement.
Not only are the songs stronger, the doubt between choosing which musical genre to use in the songs has disappeared, which gives every tune its own proper identity. And to my delight the majority is just very good Melodic Rock songs. The first half of the whole "Land Of The Damned" album is strong, is filled with music that will enthral the Melodic Rock lover as well as the AOR enthusiast. We then get two lesser songs ("Marilyn's Here" and "Inject The Venom"), just because as far as I'm concerned, those two are missing a spark, they just exist. Thankfully RVH PROJECT finds the right track again, making listening tot eh last three songs a pleasure. I particularly like the opening of "Coming Home", as to me it sounds like a combination of AC/DC and THE SWEET. Those in the know will know will know which songs I'm referring to.
As for the line-up. Since the recording of "Land Of The Damned" the RVH PROJECT has welcomed a new member within their ranks, guitarist/singer Armand Wijskamp. He'll be able to give the band a bit more depth. Musically there is nothing wrong with what RVH PROJECT is offering us. I only wish they would have added a bit more of a punch to the production, as I feel it is just a tad too bland at times. While I'm at it, I have to say that although Rick van Heuzen does a good job, he'll never be a world class singer. It might not have popped up, but when you add John JayCee Cuijpers as a guest vocalist you are bound to hear the difference. What has surprised me in a pleasant way, which is closing song "Dance". This funky tune is just what the doctor ordered, and a p[erect way for RVH PROJECT to finish "Land Of The Damned".
