My neighbouring country to the south, Belgium, has always been a hotbed for some very good metal bands. Sometimes you unexpectedly get a rather nice surprise musically. Here's another one of them: SANITY'S RAGE. They come grom the region of Flemish Brabant and have been together since 2002. Before now they gave us their debut album "You Are What You Swallow" way back in 2012. I have to admit that I missed that release. Now, another thirteen years down the road, they are back with their second album filled with pure Thrash Metal mixed with Speed Metal and Heavy Metal, which they named "The Dead Don't Run". It is to be released by the band themselves on 15 October 2025, with help from Hard Life Promotion. What can you expect as you start to listen to "The Dead Don't Run"? Well, one thing is for sure, this will wake you up. The Thrash Metal assault of SANITY'S RAGE is full of energy, very enthusiastic and uplifting, and will have you taking notice from the first note until the last. In just over 47 minutes you will undergo their attack and either love or loathe it. I am definitely in two minds about all of it. I love it because I feel that the youthful exuberance that is radiating all through the music is rather addictive. What I do need to say is that although this is a Thrash metal album I feel that "When The Sharp Things Come" could have been an IN FLAMES cover. And I do mean that as a compliment. What I do feel is that thirteen years after their last album I was hoping that I would have been more enamoured with SANITY'S RAGE. The thing is, I really do like what I am hearing on "The Dead Don't Run", but I'm also missing something. This is good, but not grabbing me by the balls, or pulling me in completely. Even though everything sounds spontaneous and full of energy, all is not as I was hoping. Technically SANITY'S RAGE are doing everything right, but I feel that the music is void of the raw emotion that usually accompanies Thrash Metal music. to me ears it sounds as if the band have concentrated too much on getting everything right in the studio instead of pouring their hearts into their performances. I hope I'm wrong and that you see it differently, but that is the way "The Dead Don't Run" makes me feel.
