Prayer By the Edge

Six Feet Deeper

Hard Rock with a sometimes Bluesy undertone, whilst on other occasions it will be more Rock or even Metal. What does become quite clear is that we are dealing with a very talented group of musicians within SIX FEET DEEPER. They are able to write good songs, that have a bucketload of emotions paired with very good instrumentals.

SIX FEET DEEPER is a Swedish Hard Rock band from Stockholm that started playing together in 2017. After the debut album “Passion Play” in 2019 we have had to wait until 2025 before the band is able to give us their sophomore album “Prayer By the Edge”. And once again I have to tell you that before now not only had I not heard any music by the band, I never even had heard any mention of this band. Well, that has been corrected now. The album was recorded without the use of a click track (metronome) and features NO time stretched/quantized instrumental performances or auto tuned vocals. The album is distributed digitally to all available streaming platforms through Lion Music. So, if this review will have or get you interested in what SIX FEET DEEPER has to offer, you know where to go and have a look.

And as far as guitar solos go, it has been a while since I have heard them being used in such an emotional and fitting way as on “Prayer By the Edge”. Some songs are good; most are really good and two really stand out for me. The first one is the very bluesy “Fire In My Hands”. This one just takes you places you haven’t been in a while. The interaction between Heavy and quiet parts in phenomenal. The other one is the title song. You always hope that the band will make those special, but “Prayer By the Edge” is a masterpiece. With a bluid up that will have you thinking BLACK SABBATH, changing into a proper Heavy hitting anthem is just breathtaking. I have no other description for it.

What sets SIX FEET DEEPER apart from many other Hard Rock or melodic Rock bands is the vocals, because the real star of “Prayer By the Edge” is without a doubt singer Sara Lindberg. What she brings to the table is outstanding. What a power, what an intonation, what an emotion and what a performance. She has a vibrato that is purely natural, and has the kind of voice that is between middle and high pitched, but with a clarity and clean sound that will go straight through your spine. I’m not even going to try and compare her with anyone else. You just need to listen to her yourself as]ns experience what she is capable of. In combination with the superb musicianship and bloody good songs I have to conclude that everything is right about SIX FEET DEEPER on “Prayer By the Edge”.
