Swallowing the World
Imperishable

There are moments when every Metal fan hears a new band and thinks âwhy in the blazes I didnât know such band before?â, even being musicians, writers, label owners and others. Itâs because the bandâs music is so good and fits on the personal tastes of the fans, and itâs the case of the Swedish quartet IMPERISHABLE, as heard on their second full-length, âSwallowing the Worldâ. The front cover artwork is a creation of Juanjo Castellano (known for his works for VOMITORY, SKELETAL REMAINS and many others), a combination of fine contrasts of colors and that resembles a bit the cover of âFrom Beyondâ, of MASSACRE. On the sound production, the band worked on Sonic Train Studios with Andy LaRocque (yes, the guitarist of KING DIAMOND, who previously worked on studio with acts as KING DIAMOND, AT THE GATES, FALCONER, LORD BELIAL, EINHERJER, EVERGREY, MELECHESH and others) on recordings, mixing and mastering, and the sonority is a âstate-of-the-artâ thing: defined and with everything listenable, but heavy and aggressive as well (and with a wise choice for the instrumental tunes).
As guests, Andy plays lead guitars on âBlood to Bleedâ, and Dennis Röndum (singer of RETROMORPHOSIS, and former singer and drummer of SWAWN OF POSSESSION) made some vocals on âCenotaph of Dreamsâ, âOut of the Nightâ and âSwallowing the Worldâ. The musical ways of the band converge into a Blackened Death Metal format (with clear traces of Swedish Death Metal and Melodic Death Metal), what means thatâs aggressive and brutal, but with a refined technical appeal and some hooking melodies bounding everything together. The result is something aggressive, full of energy and personality, and able to conquer everyone that hears to the bandâs music.
âBellsâ, âBlood to Bleedâ, âWhere No One Survivesâ, âRiding Demonsâ, âThe Rememberingâ, âCenotaph of Dreamsâ, âOut of the Nightâ, âThe Erosion of Reasonâ and âSwallowing the Worldâ depict a form of music with unusual combinations of vocals - that are using a more natural growl set of tunes that the usual death growls - guitars with amazing riffs, themes and leads; and bass guitar and drums that create a heavy and technical rhythmic artillery that supports the songs and give them the right weighty outfit. Itâs different, indeed, but with links to genres that enables the fans to understand the musical ideas expressed on the songs easily.
As a second full-length, âSwallowing the Worldâ states that IMPERISHABLE is here to stay and has a place in the scene. But it opens ways for a third release in the future that will boost the bandâs name to the entire world (as this one couldnât do it). đ€đ» đ€đ» đ€đ»
