Earth-Sick
Gory Blister
I haven't really known this Italian entity of GORY BLISTER all these years. The name came up from time to time while looking into news but nothing more. Fortunately for me I got the chance to experience their newly fourth release, "Earth-Sick", via their new local label of Bakerteam Records. What also amazed me, after looking into the band's journey ledger, is the fact that they are considered as one of the lions of the early old school Death Metal scene as a band that was conceived in the early 90s. "Earth-Sick" proved that experience prevails, even though there were many examples of the opposite. In the case of GORY BLISTER that notion stands firmly and therefore I believe that core fans of Death Metal will stand in line for them.
Unlike many primitive playing bands that take Death Metal as the means of brutality in music alone, GORY BLISTER use their great technical skills and formulated a sense of art into their harsh intents. Some of their titles reminded me of CARCASS's debut medical chronology of "Reek Of Purification", yet the music that lingered underneath explored the worlds of progression like midway chapters of DEATH and ATHEIST while still hanging on the stuff that one fed MORBID ANGEL and NILE. Speaking of NILE, their vocalist did guest recordings on two songs on the album, yet let me just say that those weren't GORY BLISTER's proud achievements.
In general, GORY BLISTER on hitting tracks as "World Damnatomy", "EarthSick" and "Dominant GenEthics" presented me the fine and enchanting sensations that Death Metal can provide. Of course their riffing blistered with destructive features but in the same time their rhythms kept on changing, whether in feel or pace, while devouring with excellent lead guitar work and a touch of blissful keyboards. It's hard to admit that there aren't too many Death Metal bands of the same but that is the awful truth of the matter. GORY BLISTER with their aim to be complex, created a fine flow in their album that helped on maintaining swiftness.
Death Metal is usually a bloody punching bag that in time will overcome whoever charges it. However, brutality can be created with taste and that is exactly what was done by GORY BLISTER on their new album "Earth-Sick". Don't ever leave the earth without it. <
