Dead Again
Suicidal Angels

Most of the times you seek a couple of words to describe a band throughout its career whether it is a short or a long one. Sometimes it is difficult, sometimes not because it is so much obvious what this band has achieved and will in the future. It is even more admirable when we are talking about a Greek band because as we know Greek Metal bands (with the exceptions of the great ones like ROTTING CHRIST, SEPTIC FLESH, NIGHTFALL, FIREWIND etc.) were never in such appreciation by the international audience. Well, here we have the first (and hopefully NOT last) exception, the Greek old-school thrashers SUICIDAL ANGELS and their 3rd full-length album, "Dead Again".
Hard work, dedication and love to the music they play. This simple sentence fully depicts to my opinion what this band is about. From their first album ("Eternal Domination") up to this latest opus, SUICIDAL ANGELS have been and still are a must to everyone out there who enjoys some pure Thrash Metal the way it was meant to be. After winning the Rock The Nation award and the release of their second album ("Sanctify The Darkness" via Nuclear Blast), that was it. That was the chance, the moment the band was working for all these years. And they did it! After the first tour under the flag of Nuclear Blast they have been constantly touring and giving numerous gigs around Europe with legends like OVERKILL, BELPHEGOR, KATAKLYSM, headlining their first tour with newcomers ENFORCER, CAULDRON, STEELWING and playing all major summer festivals. Their fan base was growing bigger and bigger with every single gig, signing with Noise Art Records (a subdivision of Rock The Nation promotion agency). That was it, SUICIDAL ANGELS have done it and still reign!
But what about the music? The band represents the (perhaps) most violent form of music nowadays, THRASH F*****N' METAL! If you are a stubborn metalhead pay no more attention to this review and hit the 'X' button on your browser. Since their first album, SUICIDAL ANGELS are ripping the roof off with some furious Thrash Metal the KREATOR/SLAYER/SODOM way making our ears bleed and our necks pain. "Dead Again" is their third album as we mentioned above and these four guys still reign supreme. Thrash Metal with a newer touch here as the vocals of Nick are slightly different from the previous two records of the band, closer to the Bay Area scene. Something new about the music of the band is that they have an instrumental intro ("Damnation") as well as a "slow" song ("Beggar Of Scorn") which in my opinion is the best in the album! Other than that, grab a six pack, warm up your necks and get ready for some serious headbanging/moshing/stage diving etc as their music is perhaps a "soundtrack" to all these things mentioned above. Hell yeah, I am excited as I still listen to the CD now! "Dead Again" indeed fellas.
Cover art is done again by a legendary artist, Ed Repka, who has worked with bands like DEATH, MEGADETH etc. A slight complaint here: the cover art totally kicks ass but I feel like something is "missing", perhaps the colors, I don't really know. The whole concept is awesome nevertheless! R.D. Liapakis has again done a great job handling the production duties. I do believe that European metalheads who will have the chance to catch them live on stage with KREATOR, EXODUS and DEATH ANGEL will surely have something to remember from these Greek lads. And mind my last sentence: I really do believe that from the latest (new) records of the "Thrasfest"bands, "Dead Again" is the most THRASH METAL one. There, I said it!
