NOIZGATE RECORDS: Announces fourth edition of Brutal Vision sampler
September 12, 2020
'Born to loose?! Live to change!!' - the fourth edition of NOIZGATE Records' own compilation series BRUTAL VISION is standing in the spirit of these (slightly modified) lines by Lemmy. The German independent label from Bielefeld is using the pandemic-induced compulsory break to dive for yet undiscovered musical pearls in the metal underground: From October 1st until November 15th, 2020, bands from all over the world are invited to apply for a slot on BRUTAL VISION Vol. 4.
'Connect Four' - clearly always a good reason to play. And good enough a reason for NOIZGATE Records to start a fourth edition of their in-house compilation BRUTAL VISION. And even though the project's main focus naturally lies on musical visions, the German label crew have already been asking themselves for the past issues: 'What kind of a vision do we have for our future?' For BRUTAL VISION VOL. 4 the answer - freely adapted from Lemmy - is: 'Born to loose?! Live to change!!'
'Right now, were seeing mankind standing at a crossroads', label speaker Annelen Brodner explains. 'Of course we can simply go on, as we have done before: Blow out more and more CO2 every year, drive even bigger trucks, dump more plastic into the oceans, chop down the rest of the rain forest, too! After all, a part of mankind has lived quite well and made quite abit of profit by that practice. But aren't we betting a huge credit on a pretty low hand here? We're literally going all-in, if we don't change anything. Because either mankind has still an ace hidden up the sleeve somewhere or we'll gamble away everything: In our case, that's the future of our planet, which is obviously running out of breath faster than we hoped for. And there's really no option for a bluff in this game.' At this point, Lemmy, or rather Motörhead's 'Ace Of Spades' came to mind: Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil! 'That's where we drew our inspiration for the motto and the cover design for BRUTAL VISION VOL.4 from', Brodner continues.
With the help of Laura Gierl from THE TEX AVERY SYNDROME, Mara Bach from MIR ZUR FEIER and Jenny Jansen from GHOSTHER, the NOIZGATE crew have created their own, gloomy interpretation of the 'Ace Of Spades' cover. 'The image is an homage to Lemmy and to Motörhead, a birthday present to 'Ace Of Spades', turning 40 this year, a symbol for all the female power in metal and the silent question, if the future we hope for will look like this. All at once.'
Like the past editions, BRUTAL VISION VOL. 4 is planned to be issued as a double record. Apart from contributions by NOIZGATE's own bands and the label crew's personal favorites, 15 slots on the sampler will be reserved for newcomers and exciting new discoveries. Bands from all over the world interested in having their song released on the compilation are invited to apply for a slot as of October 1st, 2020. And like in the years before, fans will have a say in which tracks will end up on the record: Thirty bands will make it through an expert panel's pre-selection to the online voting - the best 15 will nail the sampler!
To participate, interested bands will find the application form in the time from October 1st to November 15th, 2020 at https://www.brutalvision.de. For registered bands the participation is free of charge. Only bands who can deliver a track in a suitable CD quality (WAV-format, 44.1 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo) should apply, though. Barred from the competition are cover bands, the provision of cover songs resp. copyright reserved songs/lyrics (as long as the copyright does not belong to the applying band) and bands representing a right-wing, racist or homophobic
mindset.
BRUTAL VISION VOL. 4 will presumably be released early in 2021 via NOIZGATE's sisterlabel Deafground Records.
