Witchrider - Metamorph
September 15, 2025
Metalheads may appreciate it, especially those into Stoner and Psych; Rock fans will have zero reasons to object and plenty of reasons to approve.
review
Wucan - Axioms
September 2, 2025
WUCAN takes some twists and turns with “Axioms” that might throw some listeners off, but the band stays true to their vision and refuses to stand still.
review
Lommi - 667788
August 27, 2025
A fine mix of influences of Rock 'n' Roll, Hard Rock, Metal and more can be found here! Dive in!
review
Black Moon Cult – Ophidian Future (The Children of Yig)
August 26, 2025
Black Moon Cult’s "Ophidian Future (The Children of Yig)" is a trip well worth the price of admission.
review
Aganoor – Doomerism
August 17, 2025
It's hard to believe this is the first album from AGANOOR—they sound like seasoned veterans of the forever metal psychic wars.
review
Rise Of The Wood - Discharge
August 14, 2025
Let me start off with a bit of history first. In 2015 in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands a group of musicians got together and started a new band, which they baptised as RISE OF THE WOOD. And yes, if you are of a dirty mind, that could be exactly why this name was chosen.
review
Solace - Further
August 11, 2025
If “Further” were to drop today as a brand-new album it would undoubtedly be heralded as one of best albums of 2025. As reissue, it could still hold that honor.
review
Naevus – Back Home
August 4, 2025
“Back Home” is a helluva album by a helluva a band. A must-have for Stoner Doom fans.
review
Lorquin’s Admiral - Lorquin’s Admiral
July 14, 2025
LORQUIN’S ADMIRIAL is notable for its musicianship and Dawn Brown’s vocals. There’s some nice chemistry there.
review
Gurnslinger - Who Killed the World?
July 10, 2025
This quartet mix a lot of musical influences in a coherent and excellent form. And the result is this release.
review
Rainbow Bridge – Soundtrack of a Silent Land
June 23, 2025
On balance, “Soundtrack of a Silent Land” is a well-crafted piece of Stoner Psych Rock. If exploratory jam tracks are your thing, this is a good album to check out.
review
Domkraft - Domkraft
June 9, 2025
DOMKRAFT, “Doomkraft.” If you missed their debut in 2015, you get a second chance in 2025. Nothing like being ten years late for the party . . . but in the metalsphere there never really is such a thing as being too late.
review
Spider Kitten – The Truth is Caustic to Love
June 9, 2025
What the hell is a spider kitten? And if you saw one, would you try to pick it up or run in abject horror? Like its namesake, SPIDER KITTEN is a hard band to get into and a hard band to walk away from.
review
Fuzzriders – I Like It
May 18, 2025
Track-by-track “I Like It” is consistently good. In fact, I quite like it.
review
Drunken Crocodiles - Aegony
April 14, 2025
“Aegony” isn’t for everyone . . . but isn’t that the way it is with all metal? Ironically, DRUNKEN CROCODILE is a thinking man’s sludge offering up narratives to ponder and questions to examine.
review
Caboose - Left For Dust
April 8, 2025
What I do have to mention is that if you would like a comparison to any of the earlier bands playing Stoner Rock/Metal you will undoubtedly come across the names of TROUBLE and MONSTER MAGNET, and although the young guns of CABOOSE aren’t anywhere near the quality of those bands (yet?), they have that really rough and ready sound that also fits the peers mentioned.
review
Desert Smoke – Desert Smoke
April 7, 2025
DESERT SMOKE, “Desert Smoke,” with or without the apostrophe, scores high on the Metal Temple scales. Well worth the time to check out.
review
Ice Howl - Reborn & ReForged
March 14, 2025
A very good Doom Metal/NWOTHM release, indeed.
review
Maw – The Humble Collapse
February 11, 2025
The Humble Collapse by MAW is clearly not a Metal album, but what it lacks in volume and viscera it makes up in innovation and trippiness. Definitely worth a few spins, this one.
review
Weapon of Pride - Beneath the Surface
January 31, 2025
This mix between Groove Metal with Stoner Metal/Rock influences is a very good idea. Hear it!
review
Sullest - Sullest
January 31, 2025
Maybe this North American Punk Rock quartet is opnening new ways into the genre. Listen to their music!
review
Ghostwound - Ghostwound
December 21, 2024
“Ghostwound” is a psychedelic trip down a wandering road which somehow winds back on itself, in the end depositing you where you left off and enticing you to head out yet again.
review
Big Muff Parade - π (Pi)
November 25, 2024
Smart arrangements, fucktons of fuzz groove, and even a splash of Prog sophistication. Gotta love this band, gotta love this album.
review
Bird’s View - House of Commando
November 21, 2024
If you thought that Alternative Rock was dead, hear to this release and think again.
review
Veuve - Pole
November 18, 2024
“Pole” is one of those albums that somehow presents itself differently every time you listen to it. And if it strikes you like it did me, then you’ll be listening to it a lot.
review
Arkon - Arkon
November 4, 2024
This band is awesome, and I am praying to the Sardanian gods of lore that they stay on course but speed things up a bit—in the studio, I mean—because I can’t wait another four years to hear another album from these bad asses.
review
Thunderbird Divine - Little Wars
October 23, 2024
For addicted on Stoner Rock/Metal tendencies, this album will have a deep appeal.
review
Coma Hole – Hand of Severance
October 21, 2024
COMA HOLE is reminiscent of HEAVY TEMPLE and RUBY THE HATCHET and carries on the great tradition of Northeastern Stoner/Doom bands. “Hand of Severance” is a solid debut full-length.
review
Elephant Tree – Handful of Ten
October 14, 2024
“Handful of Ten” differs from the usual oddities collection in that it offers old, variant, and new tracks, taking a look back, ahead, and askance. You might call it a 360 or even Panavision album, giving a wider perspective of this intriguing band we call ELEPHANT TREE.
review
Psychlona – Warped Vision
October 5, 2024
“Warped Vision” is more mellow that PSYCHLONA’s previous releases, leaning more into Psych than the Stoner groove. It shows a certain level of maturity and, when needed, well enough grit.
review
Brain Pain - The Magazine
October 3, 2024
A fine Alternative Rock Italian act at its prime.
review
Sidewinder - Talons
September 23, 2024
SIDEWINDER’s sophomore album, “Talons,” like the band’s namesake, is a killer. I want to say something quirky here about getting your ‘talons’ into it, but that might be too much, so I’ll just leave it at a ‘strongly recommended’ and walk out with my dignity.
review
Moloema - Unpredictable
September 22, 2024
"Unpredictable" lives up to its name with tracks that take listeners on a journey that is anything but predictable.
review
Huanastone - Son of Juno
September 19, 2024
Stoner Rock in a high level is what is heard on this album.
review
Drive By Wire - Time Horizon
August 29, 2024
This is a very good and hooking Stoner Rock/Hard Rock release.
review
Cleen - Excursion
August 29, 2024
This is a fine "first coming" for this Stoner Metal/Rock trio.
