Adorior - Bleed on My Teeth
November 7, 2024
Wow, what ass kicking Old School Thrash/Death/Black Metal release!
review
Ad Vitam Infernal - Le ballet des anges
November 6, 2024
AD VITAM INFERNAL
'S "
Le ballet des anges
," is a crushing album in many ways with a lot more dynamics and degrees to that crush than a lot of other bands in this style can pull off. This is a year end banger that makes a strong case for how great of a state death metal is in near 2024's demise.

Nuclear - Violent DNA
November 6, 2024
Chile's thrash metal juggernaut,
NUCLEAR
, delivers a fierce new EP in 2024 titled
"Violent DNA"
, a six-track sonic assault that leaves a lasting impact on listeners with its aggressive blend of thrash and death metal influences. This release showcases the band’s penchant for speed, precision, and a deep reverence for the genre’s roots, all while pushing their sound further into chaotic, adrenaline-fueled territory. While half the EP is composed of covers, the original tracks stand out as potent examples of
NUCLEAR's
relentless energy and craftsmanship.

Retched - The Overlord Messiah
November 5, 2024
RETCHED plays US Metal. If you are prone to the early years of OMEN, you will certainly like the sound as well as the music. If you are a fan of the first albums of MALICE, you will love the music and find it a pity that the sound is lacking a bit of conviction.

Blackevil - Praise The Communion Fire For The Unhallowed Sacrament
November 5, 2024
The production of “Praise The Communion Fire For The Unhallowed Sacrament” is bloody good indeed. Crisp and clear where it concerns the Thrash and Heavy Metal parts, and vague and misty when Black Metal is reigning. But you can distinguish all the sounds being played all the time. That in itself is worth listening to this latest offering of BLACKEVIL

Ulcerate – Cutting the Throat of God
November 1, 2024
This album dives headfirst into a soundscape drenched in darkness, despair, and unrelenting anger. The darkness here is not just atmospheric; it’s almost oppressive, crafted with such precision that the weight feels palpable. Despair winds through every song like a venomous thread, relentless and unyielding. The pacing is methodical, allowing despair to seep slowly into the listener. Anger punctuates the despair, giving each song an edge that bites deep. It’s raw and unrefined, yet controlled enough to feel like a calculated release of pure fury, directed inward and outward. This is not merely an album; it’s an experience—a sonic descent that leaves you feeling both emptied and fortified.

The Hypothesis – Evolve
October 29, 2024
One of the best parts of the album was how the band held some of the Progressive elements in check, and let the melody do much of the talking. There are still the hardened structures of Metal but they are tempered with hooks. I can’t say this enough…this album is all about a great balance.

Heavenblack – Blindfolded

Theigns & Thralls – The Keep & The Spire
October 28, 2024
One thing is sure, the music of THEIGNS & THRALLS on "The Keep & The Spire" will have you dancing, tapping your feet, raising your tankard and sometimes even banging your head. That’s how addictive it is.

Demon Head – Through Holes Shine The Stars
October 28, 2024
DEMON HEAD’s “Through Holes Shine The Stars” is like a house that is larger on the inside than it is on the outside, twisting at unexpected angles, plunging to impossible depths—a musical version of Danielewski’s novel, “House of Leaves.”

Epic Down – Days of Oblivion
October 24, 2024
Call it a personal preference, but I believe the cold harshness of the music needs vocals that match, or at least, compliment the sound. Normally, contrasts are some of the things I look for in an album. But not in Doom. The music has fangs, the vocals are just too palpable, and the songs sound too similar to one another.
review
Dreadmask – Thy Prime Dread
October 24, 2024
I’m afraid this album just fell flat. It didn’t push any boundaries, nor use any of the other tools in the genre like clean vocals or keyboards. It was just guitar driven MeloDeath with some guitar harmonies here and there. I would encourage them to take more chances next time, because it can make their sounds more memorable.
review
Black Oak County – III
October 23, 2024
This album doesn’t attempt to recreate the wheel, but what it does is present a genuine and honest energy from a group of rockers who take no prisoners. I can also hear how well the music would translate to a live audience. 12 songs was just a little too much in terms of overstaying its welcome, but it was a good listen.

Dragoncorpse – The Fall of House Abbarath
October 23, 2024
Rather than creating a chaotic mess, the album finds an odd but undeniable synergy between these opposing genres. It’s a sonic balancing act that draws on the strengths of each style, blending the epic storytelling and technical prowess of Power Metal with the primal force and unpredictability of Deathcore. This album challenges genre boundaries in a way that feels fresh, inventive, and wholly original.

137 - Prey To Your Deception
October 22, 2024
What surprises me most of all when listening to “Prey To Your Deception” is the fact that 137 never had the luxury or pleasure of being signed to any label. To me that is like the very definition of a grave injustice.

Sign of the Jackal - Heavy Metal Survivors
October 22, 2024
As for the music on “Heavy Metal Survivors”, it is as straight forward as an arrow. Hard driven riffs, flanked by thumping bass sounds and very inspired drumming is what SIGN OF THE JACKAL is shooting at you. it works, and it will have you interested in a heartbeat.
review
Sinner's Blood - Dark Horizons
October 22, 2024
As for the musical direction SINNER’S BLOOD has chosen, it is Melodic Metal, with a mix of Heavy and Power Metal mixed in constantly, but also some slightly Industrial and even Gothic snippets here and there. And whilst listening to “Dark Horizons” I can only conclude that they do have their ducks in a row, as what SINNER’S BLOOD is playing is being done with a bucketload of conviction, a heap of enthusiasm, a lot of good sounding harmony vocals and an abundance of musical ability.

Corpsefucking Art - Tomatized
October 22, 2024
The Italian death metal force
CORPSEFUCKING ART
returns with their latest offering,
"Tomatized,"
a concept album that takes the listener on a thrilling, visceral ride through an apocalyptic vision of humanity’s downfall—this time at the hands of bio-engineered, monstrous tomatoes. The theme is both absurd and darkly thought-provoking, a dystopian reflection on mad science, unchecked corporate greed, and the fragile ecological web we've manipulated without considering the consequences. With stunning artwork that captures an overwhelming tomato invasion crushing civilization, buildings buried beneath an unstoppable crop,
"Tomatized,"
paints a vivid picture of ecological catastrophe.

Drownship – Tidal Passages
October 22, 2024
The haunting melodies are layered with sharp, jagged riffs that reflect the internal conflict we so often hide from the world. The vocals serve as the raw, aching voice of someone grappling with their own demons, shifting between quiet reflection and anguished outbursts, mirroring the push and pull of the mind as it contends with doubt and despair. The album doesn’t offer easy answers—it doesn’t seek to soothe or simplify the chaos. Instead, it embraces the complexity of facing yourself, of confronting your deepest fears and weaknesses head-on.
