Hell Is For The Hopeful
Crucifer
“Hell Is For The Hopeful” is a good Thrash Metal album with some Death Metal twists, cool guitar riffs, strong basslines, and excellent drumming
Irreducible Fear of the Sublime
Occulta Veritas
The genius of the band and specialness of the album is hard to describe, although the biography in the introduction covers part of it. It does indeed feel like it is sent to probe your subconscious mind, and what comes back you don’t want to see or hear. Still, it was a valuable exercise, that shows the many dark layers of human existence.
The Demon Who Makes Trophies of Men
The Monolith Deathcult
THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT has an Industrial influenced symphonic death metal sound that pushes the boundaries of Death Metal by creating unique dynamic soundscapes, often with comedic undertones.
Disgraced Emanations from a Tranquil State
Apparition
This isn’t just death metal; there’s real talent here.
Das Liebweh-Dekret
Todesstoss
While this album was pleasing, it was all over the place with a variety of sounds. It is a very unique offering for fans of BM that are willing to throw convention to the wind and explore a bit.
All is Dust
Neaera
Not being familiar with this band, I accepted the promo mostly because they were signed to a major label. One thing about certain labels, however, is that some of them aren’t interested in their bands experimenting at all, but just want the same sound delivered over and over again. I’m not sure if this applies to Metal Blade necessarily, but that is exactly what we have here and it is disappointing.
Sentinel Beast
Houwitser
Same old Death Metal.

Rot Stink Rip
Tombstoner
This is a very good Old School Death Metal release.
New Model of Disbelief
Leach
The classic outfit of Swedish Melodic Death Metal can be found on this album, but with modern improvements.
De Facto De Jure
Esodic
WOW, what a great mix between Thrash Metal, Middle-East Folk with Death Metal touches is presented on this EP (why in the blazes isn't it a full-length?)!
The Ghosts of What We Knew
Aeons
This album is thoughtful and put together very well. There are definitely elements of a core concept here, but the band continuously explores without fear or concern. What results is a versatile sound that covers about all of the ground that you would want to hear as a listener.
Godform
The Last of Lucy
With THE LAST OF LUCY being a concoction of the technical complexities of math metal undertones and paired with the sporadic overtones of aggressive grindcore molded together beautifully to form this pod of dynamic technical death metal. With overtures of progressive chord progressions and smooth jazz insurgence that push the boundaries of their genre, “Godform” is an album you need to listen to.
Maze Of The Mind
Battlecreek
“Maze Of The Mind” has a good variety of songs ranging from fast traditional Thrash Metal to mid-tempo tracks with different vibes
Whispered Morbidity & Exhumed Remnants
Degraved
“Whispered Morbidity & Exhumed Remnants” is very raw and simple Death Metal, based on a bone-chilling melodic framework
Spires
Axamenta
I am very glad that this band reformed and created this alum, because it’s a clear winner. Ardent enough for staunch Metalheads, but also delicate enough for those of us who welcome and appreciate melody, the album really has the best of both worlds.
Stasis
Hippotraktor
This is part of a new wave of Progressive music in my opinion. The album combines the best of what Metal has to offer: a heavy bottom end, melodies at the top, and a lot of tension and atmosphere. Each track showcases powerful riffs and deep bass lines that form a solid foundation, while soaring melodies add a contrasting layer of beauty and complexity. The music is infused with a palpable sense of tension, creating a gripping listening experience, and atmospheric elements enhance the overall mood, making the album a standout piece that masterfully blends heaviness, melody, and an evocative, brooding ambiance.
Transcendent Unveiling of Dimensions
Purulency
When the D&D Kids Start a Band
Night Crawling
Halcyon Way
The latest release is from 2018, so it was about time that some new stuff way would see the light of day. It finally has arrived in the form of three songs, together forming the “Night Crawling” EP.
The God Particle
Attacker
When ATTACKER released their debut album “Battle At Helm’s Deep” in 1985, it had the whole Metal World in its grip. This was something completely new. Even though the production was mediocre, the sort of US Metal that was evident on the record pulled a lot of weight and put the band on a pedestal.
One And Only
Anvil
You need to look at ANVIL liker you would at MOTÖRHEAD or AC/DC. They are remaking every album time and time again. They have their formula and stick to it. It is something that you need to know.
in Resonance Nexus
earthtone9
This was a solid album, and the fact that all of this sound comes from a trio is commendable. But, there is room for improvement. The band has the talent, and the drive, and a nice sense of melody development. However, if we could hear more of their personality in their music, it could have easily gone to an excellent release or even higher.
RE: preface
A Light Within
Through only three songs, the band has built an excellent base that they can build on. There is raw emotion, mystery, swelling and retraction, and the songs seem to come alive. This is a band that I want to hear more from.
Sounds of Green & Blue
The Lunar Effect
I have to say, I typically don’t take to bands trying to recapture the sounds of the past, but although that is part of THE LUNAR EFFECT, it doesn’t encapsulate them. Their music is genuine, honest, and full of heart-felt emotions, and they perform it really the only way they know how…with charisma.
Battle Ballads
Týr
“Battle Ballads” feels like a serious inflection point, especially as they clear the quarter century mark. I trust the band will take a deep breath and recommit to the fray.
The Star
Wormwood
The entire album is just stunning. Track to track, minute by minute. “The Star” by WORMWOOD is one of my favorite albums of the year thus far. Highly recommended.
Flamekeeper
Flamekeeper
Even though this was touted as Black Metal album and it is on a Black Metal label, consider that a very loose definition. It has a lot of other elements in it, and Marco is not afraid to let listeners know his brand of music.
Geminian Arcana
Temple of the Beast
Mysticism and malignance abound throughout these five unnerving tracks. Join me as I dive into the depths of Blackthorn’s primitive ritual.
Deterioration
Grief God
Surprising Death Metal from Lithuania.
Scathed Gaping Misery
Trails of Anguish

Genocidal Nemesis
Opium Death
Exlpoding out of Chicagoland with old school death metal and their debut album Genocidal Nemesis
Untouched by Fire
Arð
The burden it carries reminds me of a grieving widow visiting her love’s gravesite as leaves fall from the trees in late fall. She visits only once a week now, where it used to be every day. No matter how much time passes, the wound still feels fresh. But within the hurt, she finds solace in something greater out there, that you can’t see, but can just feel. For me, it’s an album that highlights the duality and complexity of emotions and the human spirit.
Witchburner
Earthblood
This is a Sludge/Doom Metal album with a lot of passion, fire, and energy. First, they smear the back onto your face and body, and then they rub it in, until it reaches your bones. By the time the EP is over, you emerge as a one-man killing machine.
Vragvmesiton
SRD
The structure and weight of the album might be its greatest strength, along with the vocals. But, it’s the confidence of the band that strikes me most. They create a torturous landscape that you don’t even want to think about, much less set foot in. The entire time you are listening, however, it hypnotizes you into taking one step closer, and then another, until you are there, swallowed by flames.

Hopium
Kingcrow
The album just failed to excite me, plain and simple. Every song was very melancholy, and that stood out even over some Progressive elements. For me, it was the vocal style that kept things from really progressing. Diego has a tender voice with great control, but nearly every song was sung in the same range. It might have been the band’s failure to convince me that led to my perceived downfall.
