Echoes of Primordial Gnosis
Winter Eternal
From Bandcamp, “WINTER ETERNAL return with their boldest record yet: “Echoes of Primordial Gnosis.” While […]
Zombique
Final Cry
Like a rapist with no hands...
Indifferent Universe
Ordalie
This was an excellent album, especially considering this came at the hands of one composer. He painted a picture of darkness, of torture, of anger, and of hopelessness, and it was all done with a twist of evil.
Incitement of Violence
Extinct
The spirit of '80s American thrash metal is alive & well in Northern Germany.
Sonic Forces
Captain Black Beard
Another great AOR re-issue from Pride & Joy
Rise of the Ruan~angh
Eremit
I can’t think of a better piece of music to bridge the gap between their much awaited fourth full-length album. Quite simply, “
Rise of the Ruan~angh
” continues to add to the band’s growing legend and solidifies their place in the pantheon of modern doom.
Visioning
Patriarchs In Black
Dan
hasn’t been part of a bad album—-he and
Johnny
are proving themselves to be quite the duo. As their legacy continues to grow so does their offerings of great music that hits all the right notes. Any fan of metal needs this album in their collection.
Another World

The Queen of AOR/melodic rock is back with album number 8
Exit Plan
Withering Surface
I would challenge them to push themselves into unexplored territory, especially in this genre, where the boundaries are limitless. It’s as solid as anything that I have heard this year, but they just played it too safe in my opinion.
Deadened Nerves
Torturers’ Lobby
This North American Black/Thrash/Metal Ounk act just need a better sonority...
Horizons
Mist Descends
A good release of a band that has too much to offer.
New Worlds
Jo Below
A very good Hard Rock EP from this Finnish act.
Iron & Oak
Greystone Canyon
WOW, this is a great Hard Rock release, cowboys!!!
The Fourth Horseman
Deathwish
Taste this corrosive mix between Metal, Punk Rock, Hardcore and Rock 'n' Roll!
Slice ‘Em All
Catbreath
A brutal Crossover/Hardcore release to destroy ears and necks!
Fantoom van de Deemsterburcht
Magistraal
The wild drums, depraved vocals, and just the right use of melody make the experience raw and as haunted as it is haunting. It’s one of those black metal albums that has moments of surprising beauty even in utter darkness.
The Black River
Nihilo Machina
This was a fantastic album, that combined many of the traditional elements of Black Metal with just enough melody and symphony to keep it interesting, Considering this was all done by one person, this is an amazing testament to his vision.
Killing Karma
Disbelief
“Killing Karma” is a deadly delivery of aggressive hammering, spine-chilling atmosphere, and a grim melodic framework with melancholic elements
Aumicide
Atrae Bilis
“Aumicide“ is a triptych of brutality, atmosphere, and melancholy with a few progressive twists
Cult of the Dead
Miruthan
This was a promising debut EP for the Black Metal band out of Australia. They should be proud, and I am looking forward to what they have to offer next. Keep these guys on your radar for sure.
Bestairy
Protosequence
A disgusting evolution into progressive technical death that has elements of deathcore exploding out of Canada.
...Discontinued
Malignancy
Like a Shotgun blast, this album will shred through your senses with sporatic tempos, raging blast beats with some solid goove undertones that create a torrent of aggression and technical death
Goon
Ivy Gardens
“Goon” by IVY GARDENS. Pretty cool stuff. I like the inventiveness of it. I could use some more despair or a splash of Satan or something to dampen the light, but I appreciate that not all metal has to be sinister and dark. Definitely worth checking out.
Of Crackling Embers and Sorrows Drowned
Brazen Tongue
BRAZEN TONGUE with their debut “Of Crackling Embers and Sorrows Drowned” holds its own amongst the shining asteroids that make up the Melodic Extreme Metal scene but struggles to break out of the collective orbit.
The Law of Augmenting Returns
The Omnific
Perhaps the most striking thing about the album is that prowess aside, the band are also excellent songwriters. The average listener might see the limitation of four strings, but they see a veritable wide-open field, and they explore every inch.
Ecdysis
Unearthly Rites
Primitive Death exploding out of Finland with raw unapologetic agression as they debute there first full length album that showcases the destruction of capitalism on our environment and humanity.
Alchemia Prophetica

Conquerors
New Horizon
Powerful vocals and superb power metal melodies.
Devant La Porte Des Etoiles
GraveNoire
This was a solid release, though I had hoped for just a couple more songs. Though it does have an aggressive, contentious sound, it isn’t overly grating, and the listener is treated to and expansive sound that you don’t always get with Black Metal.
Love At First Bite
Cutterred Flesh
I hope in the future, the band can really grasp these oddball ideas with their heavier side. The band feels like they are on the verge of releasing something truly masterful. Until then, “
Love At First Bite
,” will work just fine.
Torn From the Jaws of Death
Severe Torture
All in all,
SEVERE TORTURE
are back in a big way . “
Torn From the Jaws of Death
,” proves the band has lost none of their potency and they are more than capable of competing with anyone in the scene, old or new.
The Quantum Phase
The End Machine
The End Machine “The Quantum Phase” is album number three is follow up to album […]
A Fortress Called Home
Seven Spires
The best part of the album is the incredible vocal performance of Adrienne Cowan, and the band’s musicianship in general. The production is also stellar, and everything is in its proper place. 12 songs was just a bit too many for me, and a couple of them weren’t as memorable as some of the others, but bravo, this is a very well put together album that speaks of triumph.
Magna Mater
Mother of Millions
More Progressive Metal fans should be aware of this band, and this album especially, because as good as their previous albums were, this one tops them all. The album features illustrious melodies and a stand out vocal performance that is backed with a bottom end that is substantially intense, and what results is a balance that just hasn’t been reached this year.
Mesh
LizZard
Bands like LizZard are out there, but it takes a whole lot more digging to find them. I am very happy this passed over my hands. At its core, it’s a simple album, with many pleasing melodies, but it has so much thought behind the compositions. Perhaps most convincingly, I can’t easily put into words the way it made me feel, but the point is that it did.
