A Frame Of Mind
Kalandra
Not what you expect and this is good.
Melodies of Atonement
Leprous
The album is a little stripped down from their usual sound, but it is no less vibrant and colorful. They have a very uncommon way of composing songs, but they can go from a lamb’s gentle cry to a wolf’s rabid howl at the turn of a dime. It’s quite a personal and reflective album in my opinion.
Nascence
The Apehlion
What strikes me most about the album is how well the themes fit into the music, as well as the level of care they put into their craft. The music has this thread of tension that runs through it in nearly every song, and the musicianship is outstanding. It can go from calm to on fire in a second, and it keeps the listener actively engaged in both the music and the tale. Bravo.
Veil Lifter
Post Death Soundtrack
Expansive and doomy with big grunge vibes, POST DEATH SOUNDTRACK’s “Veil Lifter” transports the listener […]
Wildly Possessed
Reversed
Both lyrically and sonically, it’s as over-the-top as it gets, and is simultaneously thrashy, blackened, and death metally, with as much wanton evil packed into every song as possible. These seven devilish little ditties have been an absolute delight to work with, so let’s get started.
Fears & Fractures
Wolves Don't Sleep
Usually a Metalcore band will be as bipolar as possible, with their emotions ranging from extremely aggressive and angry to utterly emo and despondent. WOLVES DON’T SLEEP don’t follow that recipe at all. They start at hard and heavy and finish just before the aggressive stage. Their boundaries are quite a lot tighter than people in the Metalcore community are used to.

Free Spirit Soar
Warlord
The result of the third rising of WARLORD is currently blasting my speakers and is called “Free Spirit Soar”. I’m just wondering how long it will be before WARLORD pulls the plug once again.
Zenith
Stormborn
Melodic Heavy/Power and yes, even Speed Metal is passing you by left, right and centre. It all sounds very good, has the perfect and positive vibe that you expect from this kind of music. The musicians are also all very capable, and the singer has a voice that is complementing everything the instrumentalists are able to throw at him.
In Gravity
Shrapnel
I will mention to the people who already know and love SHRAPNEL that they have once again produced an album that is worthy of their admiration. On the other side of the spectrum, my view for those who haven’t embraced SHRAPNEL yet is to give “In Gravity” enough spinning time to be able to either grow on you or not.
Verdande
Vestindien
Whether VESTINDIEN are trying to find their center and experimenting with a variety of styles or if their center is actually all about the journey, “Verdande” is worth the fare.
Wrath
Dødsferd
DØDSFERD can always be relied upon for producing classically pitched Black Metal and with “Wrath” they again deliver on that commitment.
Reckless Heart
Palace
This was a fantastic album that brought the feel good melodies from the 1980’s to today, like a time machine. The vocals and ensuing harmonies might have been the best part, but those catchy guitar riffs and glittering keyboards were not too far behind.
Shades of Night
Nokturnal
The raw and ragged blackened death shredding to help pioneer the resurgance and pay homage to an old school sound that gave birth to death in the 80's and the tones of the original black metal.
Polaris
Lodestar
LODESTAR deliver an album for Gothic Metal fans and many of those might like what they hear
Eternal Rising
Xeneris
The debut album of XENERIS is promising. “Eternal Rising“ has elements of symphonic Metal, melodic Metal, and Power Metal and this is all well mixed together
Relics of Time

The waiting is over! Talk about an immediate shock to the system and a blast […]
Expelled into Suffering
Assimilator
Assimilator – Expelled into Suffering Oh Fuck! You’re gonna make me Suffer??? Assimilator's EP "Expelled […]
Ex Umbra In Lucem
Lamentari
This album has it all…outstanding musicianship, full, rich sounds from the orchestral arrangements, and enough hate and hellfire to cast an angel down to the pit and burn him through.
Atomic Kings
Atomic Kings
Atomic Rock.
Tir nan Og
Drunemeton
DRUNEMETON’s “Tir Nan Og,” is a black metal album that steps outside the box even as it holds onto its roots, resulting in a raw but dynamic album that will appeal to a lot of people even if they don’t like black metal.
Fatum
Dantalion
All in all
DANTALION
’s “
Fatum
” is a tortuous journey through utter darkness. It stabs and beats you along the way, not even offering more than the briefest respite. If this is your type of music (and if not, it needs to be) this is an album that if you missed last year, might as well jump in now and embrace the sweet, sweet misery.
Echoes of Primordial Gnosis
Winter Eternal
From Bandcamp, “WINTER ETERNAL return with their boldest record yet: “Echoes of Primordial Gnosis.” While […]
Zombique
Final Cry
Like a rapist with no hands...
Indifferent Universe
Ordalie
This was an excellent album, especially considering this came at the hands of one composer. He painted a picture of darkness, of torture, of anger, and of hopelessness, and it was all done with a twist of evil.
Incitement of Violence
Extinct
The spirit of '80s American thrash metal is alive & well in Northern Germany.
Sonic Forces
Captain Black Beard
Another great AOR re-issue from Pride & Joy
Rise of the Ruan~angh
Eremit
I can’t think of a better piece of music to bridge the gap between their much awaited fourth full-length album. Quite simply, “
Rise of the Ruan~angh
” continues to add to the band’s growing legend and solidifies their place in the pantheon of modern doom.
Visioning
Patriarchs In Black
Dan
hasn’t been part of a bad album—-he and
Johnny
are proving themselves to be quite the duo. As their legacy continues to grow so does their offerings of great music that hits all the right notes. Any fan of metal needs this album in their collection.
Another World
issa
The Queen of AOR/melodic rock is back with album number 8
Exit Plan
Withering Surface
I would challenge them to push themselves into unexplored territory, especially in this genre, where the boundaries are limitless. It’s as solid as anything that I have heard this year, but they just played it too safe in my opinion.
Deadened Nerves
Torturers’ Lobby
This North American Black/Thrash/Metal Ounk act just need a better sonority...
Horizons
Mist Descends
A good release of a band that has too much to offer.
New Worlds
Jo Below
A very good Hard Rock EP from this Finnish act.
Iron & Oak
Greystone Canyon
