This is one case where the album’s clean vocals work very well with the music. I usually like my Doom with harsh vocals, because that pairing makes more sense. But, the cleans are so expressive and layered with harmonies. Add in all of the other elements, and you have a memorable album.

The folk and symphonic elements were nice as well, but again, there weren’t enough of them, so much of the album stalled before it really got the chance to get off the ground.

This was an outstanding album, that crossed somewhere into the Doom Metal genre, but stayed out of the box and boundaries associated therein. It was as gorgeous and heart-tugging as it was ardent, intense and passionate.

In Silence Descent

The best part of the album is how the sound gutted you as much as its aggressiveness excited you. What began as a familiar sound took a turn down a darkly lit path and into the trees beyond, and you might not want to see what was discovered there.

Cypher

The music is excellent, but again, the clean vocals are just a bit pitchy. The trade-off with the harsh vocals makes perfect sense, because it provides a contrast. The Progressive elements in the shifting meter are handled expertly by the band, and this is a promising effort from the quintet.

The band is either very good at exploration or they lack a central vision on the album. Like any good Progressive band, however, they leave you thinking deeper through the journey. Anyway you slice the fruit, this was an album that occupied its own space within the vast world of music.
