Devourer of All
Nyrak
What strikes me most about the album is the sheer amount of sounds they are able to pack into each composition. What is sprung when the dam breaks is pure anger, hate, and blackness. Each note is cleverly placed however, and the interplay between Black Metal aggression and melodic, symphonic elements is noteworthy.
Determinist
Octohawk
Progressive metal from Norway.
Pächschwarz
Chotzä
CHOTZÄ has taken an unanticipated evolutionary step relatively late in their trajectory with “Pächschwarz.” Altogether, it’s a surprisingly multifaceted album . . . especially for a band known for their relatively simple approach to Black Metal.
Cometh The Storm
High On Fire
If you come to “Cometh the Storm” looking for status quo, you might be disappointed. There is something different going on here. Nothing too out of bounds, but definitely a new twist to an old game.
Metempsychosis
Cult of Erinyes
The main accomplishment of the album is how it maintains a tension that never lets up, and as a listener, you can’t help but feeling right on the edge of overloading your senses and wanting to jump into the deep abyss in order for it to go way. But, that’s exactly what the monster pulling the strings wants you to do.
Moments To Remain
Act Of Creation
“Moments To Remain” got the best elements of modern melodic Death Metal: grim melodies, pace and aggression, devastating riffs, and an epic and melancholic sound at times
Dark Paradise
Imperia
"Dark Paradise” is a decent symphonic Metal album, with the vocalist being the standout performer on every song
The Path of Destruction
Godeth
Through an emotionally charged display of heavy hitting blasts of solid drums that set the tempo for the low tuned guitars and a thick bass that holds groove undertones with aggressive vocals that overlay perfectly and express thier metalcore hybid sound from the UK.

The Dry Land
Huntsmen
I haven’t heard a lot of truly unique albums this year but this "The Dry Land" is definitely one of them. On paper, it sounds like something that shouldn’t work but sure as hell does once that play button is pressed. This is a good release for headphone listening as well, so all the details can be fully captured.
Nightfloating
Forgotten Tomb
FORGOTTEN TOMB
’s “
Nightfloating
,” is a powerful statement of what blackened doom can offer and also a searing example of how melody can be incorporated into these dark genres without loosing one iota of grit and guile.
Where Time Will Come To Die
SERVANTS TO THE TIDE
Fans of non-extreme doom will eat this album right up. If you haven’t heard them or, perhaps, you’re new to doom and looking for a starting point, “Where Time Will Come To Die” will hit the spot. I scored the previous album an 8 but I’m giving this one a 9 because it is an obvious upgrade to everything that makes them great.
Primal Judgement Manifesto
Aspernamentum
Considering this was composed and performed by one person, it’s a solid Black Metal album. I didn’t find it overly simple or primal however. I did find it honest, and there is more than meets the eye here.
Mortuus Est I
Torment of Souls
Ooooooooh, someone got a vocal effects processor for Xmas.
Shaman
Hell:on
Her body is an absolute 10 but her face resembles Willem DaFoe pressed against the glass in a hot Greek bathhouse.

The God of Forest
Nemus Anima
Although this is Metal in its prime form, it just wasn’t overly exciting for me.
Gospel of Bones
Funeral
From Bandcamp, “FUNERAL, hailing from the icy landscapes of Norway, stands solemn as stalwart guardians […]
Wake Up The Wicked
Powerwolf
The German wolves created a great release again!!!
The Wolf and the King
1349
This isn’t a bad album by any stretch, but it’s about what the listener might expect from the band…staying in their lane, and not taking too many chances. I admire that, but at the same time, would also love to hear some more experimentation. They have a lot of talent, which they should use to push themselves a bit more.
The Underworld Awaits Us All
Nile
The Pharaohs of Technical Death Metal are back with a huge release!!!
Lysergic Ritual
Sundowner
A very good way of mixing Sludge Metal and Stoner Metal can be heard on this release.
Unearthly Litanies of Despair
Engulfed
A very good Death Metal release from this Turkish quartet.
System Shock
Desolus
This album is a fine 'how-to-play' Thrash/Black Metal compendium!
Through The Pain
Crippled Fingers
A very good Thrash Metal mix with influences of Crossover and Hardcore tendencies.
Warping Structure
Black Wound
A good release, but it depicts the confusion that exists between to be organic with to have a filthy sonority...
Secrets of Ancient Gods
Arhat
A fine blend between Groove Metal and Death Metal with ethnic elements.
Beyond the Aeons
Octoploid
Once again, the Fins prove their paramount songwriting ability. This sound is unique, and carries with it elements of old School Prog with modern Death Metal. The combine these two things flawlessly, into a sound that reminds me of some of the best music of yesteryear but it retains a modern edge, with plenty of listenability.
Septic Worship (Intolerant Spree Of Infesting Forms)
Septage
With a putrid infection that spread from Coppenhagen Septage vomits all over you with their fast, raw and disgusting grindcore that tears through you leaving the thick stench of death behind with their debut and sadly last album.
Syncretic Sovereignty
Sol Anahata
In the expanding realm of power metal, where soaring melodies meet thunderous riffs and epic […]
Chthonic Invocations

Funeral Storm's latest offering, "Chthonic Invocations," delves into the abyss with relentless fervor. From the […]
The Space Inbetween
Erronaut
The music is quite simple in scope, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s not an excellent album. The band transforms heavy, accented riffs into the authoritative footsteps of a mammoth, plodding through the northern plains in a time long ago.
ETNA
Volucrine
VOLUCRINE drives home their progressive and melodic take on death metal. With such great influences and how they structured their own sound around it, you cannot help but respect what these guys did. This is just a fantastic album.
A Frame Of Mind
Kalandra
Not what you expect and this is good.
Melodies of Atonement
Leprous
The album is a little stripped down from their usual sound, but it is no less vibrant and colorful. They have a very uncommon way of composing songs, but they can go from a lamb’s gentle cry to a wolf’s rabid howl at the turn of a dime. It’s quite a personal and reflective album in my opinion.
Nascence
The Apehlion
What strikes me most about the album is how well the themes fit into the music, as well as the level of care they put into their craft. The music has this thread of tension that runs through it in nearly every song, and the musicianship is outstanding. It can go from calm to on fire in a second, and it keeps the listener actively engaged in both the music and the tale. Bravo.
