Age of Chaos
Rotten UK
ROTTEN UK. They must really hate the UK, although they themselves are from Rochester. No, not the one in Kent, England, but the one in New York, USA. Does that shine through in the music on offer on “Age Of Chaos”? No, it doesn't, it could just as easy been from anywhere in the world, but most likely the UK. It's hard, heavy, uncopmpromising and ruthless.
In Chambers Of Sonic Disgust
Illdisposed
I can mention is that once you have the music entering your ears either through your headphones or the open air, you will be able to immediately distinguish which band you are listening to. Is that a bad thing? Not at all, as a lot of bands would love to be recognised at first tone.
The Determinism Of Essence In Matter
Forever Falling
This was an excellent album, full of doomsday prophecies and about as much pain and suffering that you could expect to put someone through and not end them. With each passing note, the feelings deepen, until total body and mind numbness is all that is left.
Netherworlds
Stillborn
Seven years on from their reformation, Stillborn once again provide their adoring fans a set of material ready to infiltrate their souls on a demonic level
Underground Forever
Duskwalker
Even if you are from a nation that's well known for being generally nice, it doesn't mean that you cannot be brutal to people's ears. Canadian outfit Duskwalker force feed you heavy metal with their new album "Underground Forever".
Al Aqrab
Al-Namrood
All in all,
AL-NAMROOD
’s “
Al Aqrab
” is something different from most of what I’ve jammed this year and it was a welcomed, and enjoyable, change of scenery for me.
Revenant
CAINITES
CAINITES’s “Revenant” is an interesting melodic death album across it’s storytelling, atmospheric, presentation, and music. I actually haven’t heard a lot of melodic death albums this year outside of a few key bands but this is one of the better ones I’ve come across in this second half of 2024.
The Final Sermon (Live in Japan)
Metal Church
Listening to “The Final Sermon (Live in Japan)” it feels like no time has passed since those Mike Howe days and those albums. A fitting tribute to a legendary vocalist.
New Babylon
Kayleth
KAYLETH’s “New Babylon” is a great story and a great album. Now I just wish it was a movie, a video game, and an RPG too.
Submit Or Death
Just One Fix
“Submit Or Death” is a Thrash Metal EP with traditional Thrash Metal influences, Death and Groove Metal twists, and Hardcore vibes
From The Pale Mist
Pontifex
“From The Pale Mist” combines the brute force of a Black Metal hammering with darkness and epic and melancholic melodies
The Formless Fire
Kvaen
Sometimes, being signed to a major record label isn’t necessarily and indicator of talent. In this case however, the band does have talent, they just took the paved road of familiarity instead of forging their own path. It wasn’t a bad album by any stretch of your imagination, it was just too safe.
Equus
Equus
The same as it was then, it is now.

The Scorching Gaze
Urzah
You have to applaud the band’s sense of thinking outside of the box. The album is convoluted, complex, and dark, and the way that they toy with dissonant melody is unlike anything I have heard this year. If the punishing rhythms don’t get you, the hopeless anger will.
The Gods Below
Ossilegium
Like the Whitest of Stripes before them, a band with only two members can only do so much.
The Lightbringers
Orion
I don’t think I have heard an album in a while that connects the music so well with the vocals, and I don’t usually care much for lyrics…it’s music that has the most moving qualities for me. Here, you’ll get an emotional dose of both. The lyrics remind you of your burden and your pain, but the music digs in harder and frees you, if only while the album lasts. Answers? I’m not sure. But there is a deep genuineness and honesty in the album, and it connects the human experience with a natural curiosity we have to question.
Reflections
Soulline
Heavy but soft.
Moribundis Grim
Necrophagia
NECROPHAGIA was one of the forerunners of the Extreme Metal scene, and even with my limited knowledge of that part of the Metal community, I do know that the band of whom Killjoy was the undisputed leader made a huge impact in the underground. “Moribundis Grim” is a fitting end to a massive legacy, and one for the real fans.
Helm's Deep (The Demo Anthology)
Brocas Helm
The biggest plus of “Helm's Deep (The Demo Anthology)” is the fact that for a demo album is sounds bloody good. Every song is very distinguishable in sound, and not one of the instruments is being overshadowed by the others. This goes to show the level of professionalism BROCAS HELM has always been capable of bringing to the table.

From Bandcamp, “Descent Into Madness” follows the journey of a man who after his studies […]

The Paradox
Eradicator
ERADICATOR deliver a decent Thrash Metal album driven by excellent guitar and bass work
Inane Ducam
Atavistia
“Inane Ducam” is an excellent symbiosis of relentless Death Metal hammering with Black Metal twists, of well-composed orchestral arrangements, and of a dark melodic framework
The Undoing
Varices
This Old School Melodic Death Metal in the Swedish way (tempered with Groove Metal touches) is hard to resist to!
I
Stoned Space
A fine instrumental release that combines Progressive Rock with Hard Rock and Heavy Metal influences.
Ensnared
Paradox Rift
Maybe we are seeing the coming of what can be called Post-Death Metal on this release.
World on Fire
Millennial Reign
If one think that US Metal and US Power Metal have nothing more to show, then comes a release like this to show that things can be endless...
The Mortuary Hauntings
House By The Cemetary
This is a piece of what Old School Death Metal must be.
Palm Reader
High Desert Queen
A fine Stoner Metal release with groove and Hard Rock touches.
Detrimental Paratomy
Necrocene
I don’t need gargle bargle in crystal clear 4k hi-def quality. I need it real, genuine, and ugly.

Viaticum
Darkend
What I like most about the album is the combination of traditional Black Metal with modern twists. For me, it shows a sextet that is true to their roots, but also not afraid to branch out and use techniques that some of their peers wouldn’t. The result is a winning album that interesting as it is provocative.
