The album has very personal themes that reflect the shock in losing someone that you care deeply about, yet in some ways, you could already see the ending all painted out for you. But it doesn’t make the sting any less painful. You could clearly hear that pain reflected in the music. It is angry and raging, but very well controlled, and although it offered a variety of influences, the central theme was torture for me…the torture that comes with loss.

All in all, MORAL PUTREFACTION’s self-titled debut is very strong and it will be interesting to see what the band comes up with next. Fans of cold-as-a-grave death metal will find much here to enjoy but it’s dynamic enough to align with a lot of different tastes.

While “Seven Chambers,” certainly isn’t a bad album, it is one that I just couldn’t find a firm grasp to hold on to. There is plenty of talent here and someone else may enjoy it far more than me. I look forward to their next album, despite my misgivings on this one.

Vast Pyre

VAST PYRE’s self-titled debut album is an incredible album with so many layers and details that I’m still not sure if I have full absorbed it all yet; I can’t get over how well written it is. Any fan of doom will absolutely need to add this to their collection. Hell, fans of heavy music in general should not mess this hidden gem.

Just the Basics

This was a good album and a pleasurable listening experience. I get many of the Alternative and Metal elements which are blended well on the album, but the Progressive elements are more subtle. The band is talented, and they have a propensity for writing catchy songs that stick with you.
