Angels Rising
Dying Angel
Hailing from Wehrheim, Hesse in Germany we have DYING ANGEL, a band that has been around since 2019 and plays Heavy Metal, with a strong connection to the NWOBHM era.
Ariah
Ariah
I am quite smitten with “Ariah” and would have liked to hear more of these guys. I am glad that Someoddpilot Records took the plunge and decided to rerelease this 35-year-old gem.
Moþir
Forndom
I appreciate the minimalist approach to the music, because it allows the layers to be stripped off and the core is left for the listener to enjoy. The core here is both somber and prophetic, and it hints at a world we all know is coming, but we push it down deep inside to avoid the confrontation.
Anthropophagy (Reissue)
Vulcano
This remastered verson of this classic from this Brazilian Black/Thrash legendary act is really great!
Forthcoming Age of the Reaper
Total Hate
A fine Old School Black Metal release, in the vein of the Second Wave of Black Metal!
Extinction Ritual
Hate Angel
Wow, what a great limitis killer on Blackened Death Metal this trio is!
Forged in Black (Remastered MMXXIV)
Forged in Black
This reissue of this UK-based Heavy Metal quintet is a fine opportunity for older and younger fans.
Something Eldritch and Macabre
August Moon
Even if it's late, this Finnish Technical Death Metal trio released an excellent full-length!
The Pyre Aflame
Abyssal Frost
Wow, what great first full-length is delivered by this North American Blackened Death Metal band!
Echoes
Nationwide
This was a solid AOR album, that featured great vocals, a crunchy backing of instruments, energy and enthusiasm, and confidence on the part of the band. The hooks were memorable, and catchy, and this is an album that you can crank up to 10.
Deathly Pale
Parusight
This was a fairly diverse offering of Black Metal that stayed within the lanes of the genre but did not just rely on old, re-hashed formulas of old. Oliver worked in some melancholy, some keyboards, and some ambiance into the songs, and it breathed new life into a genre that has become overrun with artists lately.
Permanent Dawn
Earthburner
From the urban wastelands of Chicagoland comes a torrent of putrid aggression with a disgusting display of deathgrind
A Gruesome Encounter
Chained to the Dead
Influenced by old shool death that is tinged with hard rock elements from old New Jersey
Sanguine
Benthic
This was a good album. The band used a lot of different elements in their brand of music, including groovy riffs, both clean and harsh vocals, some Core, some Grunge, even some Alternative.
Blandede Meninger Og Aforismer
Myrholt
All in all,
Myrholt
’s “
Blandede Meninger Og Aforismer
,” is a wonderfully balanced album between two different approaches to black metal and effectively combines them together with interesting songs.
Raw Illumination
Grave With A View
GRAVE WITH A VIEW
have upped their game with “
Raw Illumination
,” and have solidified themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the black metal scene. This is a strong sophomore album from a band that shows endless promise because they thrive in the endless void.
Whispers
Strangers
Good first steps.
Gehenna
Twisted Mist
I was a bit leery about Death Metal and Folk being mixed. The melodic tendencies of Death, however, make the pairing surprisingly compelling. “Gehenna” by TWISTED MIST. Strongly recommended for Pagans and Judeo-Christians alike.
Phantoms
Pandemic
“Phantoms” is a blast. There’s a bit of nod to early Thrash with a Hardcore Punk overlay, but the Blackened element took it over the top for me.
Inanition
Zen Disdain
The band are decent musicians, and they put in a good deal of thought into the songwriting, but it just fell flat for me. Nothing really stands out on the album. For that reason, the album was just mediocre for me.
Ex Cinere
Rizen
California Hard Rock from the UK.
Some Last Echo
Canaan
Electronic doom is what CANAAN pedals. It’s a bridge between the past and present, combining 80’s synthwave with modern Doom. The closest band I can make comparisons with might be THE CURE, and this is an original take on the genre that all Doom fans must hear at least once in their lifetime.

Blasphemare MMXXIII/The Origin Through the Void
The Host
If you want a different experience on Black/Death Metal and Blackened Death Metal, tastae this quintet's music.
Reconnect ‘n Ignite
Fate
Danish Metal is alive and well.
The Eclipse of Worlds
Within Silence
Without creating anything knew, this Power Metal quintet shows a very good work on this release.
III: Non Sequitur
Weltschmerz
The essence of what Black Metal is can be found on this release.
The Gates of Slumber
The Gates of Slumber
If you're a die-hard Doom Metal maniac, this release is surely what you're looking for.
At Death’s Gate
Slechtvalk
Black Metal for the masses!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hierarchy (Reissue)
Rivers of Nihil
This is the opportunity for the fans to find the first release of these guys.
Coda
Rifftera
This surprising EP is really GREAT!!! 🤘🏻 🤘🏻 🤘🏻
The Dead Don’t Die
Dominum
This German quartet is really surprising with such mix of Power Metal, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal with traces of modern tendencies.
For I Am Your Death
Bloodmoon Eclipse
Unfortunately, much of this album falls into the droning noise category for me. There were few discernable riffs, and the vocals were delivered in much of the same manner from song to song. This wasn’t a total loss, but it wasn’t very memorable either.
The Cycles of Suffering
Burial Oath
This was a solid album that pushed notes of punishment with notes of hopelessness in equal doses. It is a traditional album in the sense of the origins of the genre, but it also had modern elements.
Madness Malformed
Recidivist
Unapologetic raw death meatal from SLC
