The Ever-Crushing Weight of Stagnance
Misanthropy
Misanthropy’s “The Ever-Crushing Weight of Stagnance,” is a tech/prog death metal album that dances to its own beat to create music that is imaginative and brutal.
The Embracing Light of Rarohengra
Aeon of Awareness
This was a good album in the style. The band seems to have the Death side of the duality better than the melodic side, and that’s just an observation. If they take their strong base forward, and perhaps add more piano and melody, and even some more clean vocals every now and again, this album could have been excellent.
Längtan
Lamashtu
LAMASHTU pushes the boundaries of Symphonic Metal with Längtan. It’s creepy and melodic and compelling all at once. A great discovery for new fans; a reaffirmation for returning fans.
Between You, God, The Devil And The Dead
Avatarium
Between You, God, The Devil And The Dead is 43 minutes of standout track after standout track. A year and half in the making, this album strikes a high watermark for AVATARIUM.
Pale Grey Monochome
Inborn Suffering
This was an excellent album. The combination of hardened Death Metal with the despondence of Doom was very carefully balanced on the album, as were all of the backing elements that the band uses. What resulted was a rich, full sound of endless gray and unanswered questions…the kind that will gnaw at you until the end of your days.

Confessions
Lord Sin
The songs are unnecessarily long in my opinion, and the entire listening experience is just, well, dull. The best part of the music is probably the thick bass notes, but the scratchy harsh vocals trying to sound mean, and elementary riffs, aren’t doing the album any favors. There isn’t much excitement here.
45 Turns 33
Midlife Crisis
Punk Rock is alive.
Fornetes Folm His Crown Grows from His Skull
Úlfarr
This was a difficult album to listen to for a few reasons. First, it was quite vanilla, it terms of the flavor spectrum of music. Second, the vocals were delivered in nearly the exact same way in every song. Third, the riffs were used so many times in the past. What resulted was a fairly bland album.
Faithless
Pandemmy
Wow, this Brazilian Death/Thrash Metal quartet's musical work depicts what the word "maturity" means, 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
三屍 (Sanshi)
Ripped to Shreds
Prepare your ears to be shredded by this insane release from this North American Death Metal quartet!
Tales from the Bones
Gutter Bones
The old mix between Heavy Metal and Hard Rock never gets old, and this German quartet is a living proof of this idea.
Those Shredded Dreams (Reissue)
Furbowl
This new reissue of the cult Swedish Death Metal act comes in a very good time.
Apophenia
Deivos
A savage Technical Death Metal onslaught is what this Polish quintet offers to you.
Pariahs
Contrition
An Old School mix between Death Metal influences with traces of Grindcore can be foun on this EP.
Graveworms, Cadavers, Coffins and Bones
Carnal Savagery
A fine Swedish Old School Death Metal release.
Revelations from the Void
Onirophagus
This was an excellent album. The combination of anger and despair were balanced very well. The guitar riffs were devastating, the vocals rattled into your soul, and the drums crushed the very ground you walked on, painting a picture of total desolation and meaningless existence.
Duél
Jinjer
Their sound is indeed unique, and as a band they are a juggernaut, but through all of the time shifts, airier passages, methodological performances, and downright crushing elements, I am left with an album that I just didn’t like as much as I should have. No one can deny the band’s musicianship, but I found the album to be difficult to digest, and to enjoy.
Reset The Sky
Ice Exile
Good surprise from Finland.
Tempora Mutantur
Lunar
To summarize the album, admittedly, does put me in a quagmire. Their technical ability is right up there with a lot of Progressive musicians, but I just wasn’t able to really enjoy the album. I like a wide variety of music, but this just didn’t click with me. Some Progressive music can be hard to digest. Still, this is something that I believe a lot of fans of music outside of the box might enjoy, and I recommend that you listen to it and decide for yourself.
Where Obscurity Sways
Pyre
This was a good album, that easily combined elements of Black, Death, and Thrash Metal into a thick stew that nourishes your hunger. At times, they grind it out slowly, letting the poison seep in, while other times, they shove it right down your throat without a second thought. I especially like their energy.
Black Magic Rituals and Perversions, Vol. 1
Electric Wizard
Black Magic Rituals and Perversions, Vol. 1 lays testament to the talent of one of the most revered Doom Metal bands on the planet.
Sharp Objects
Spiders
“Sharp Objects” isn’t the gritty, raw comeback album I was hoping for, but it also isn’t a throw away. If you like your rock well-sanitized and appreciate the 80’s garage scene, this might be the album for you.
Causes
Haven
Although the album showed potential at times, it floundered for a decent amount of the way for me. The hardened passages are ardent, gritty, and brutal, but they were not enough to overcome a general lack of energy.
Rebirthless
Accu§er
ACCU§ER deliver a very good Thrash Metal album. “Rebirthless“ contains the best elements of traditional Thrash Metal and adds modern twists
Volume Six
Sacrifice
“Volume Six” is a gift for all traditional and modern Thrash Metal fans and I highly recommend adding “Volume Six” to their album collection
Flames Licking Fever
Deathrite
A raw primitive death with early punk rock undertones from eastern Germany
A Pathway the Moon
Unreqvited
The clean vocals add another layer of artistic and even spiritual sublimity to the album. The way that they co-exist with the aggression of Black Metal is key to the sound. Gazing at the moon as meditation may sound a little “out there,” but some say it can help you find a sense of peace and calm and instill a sense of wonder. It’s only January 5, and I already have a contender for album of the year.
Long Streets
Reese
Good surprise from Italy.
Joy
Witnesses
This release is a different Doom Rock/Doom Metal expression that is filled with Ambient Music influences.
